Welcome to Liliac they are a family band ages currently 13 till 22 . They started out playing weekends at Santa Monica for years. Melody the lead singer is a big fan of Ronnie James Dio. Rip To the point that Wendy Dio requested they do The Last in Line another Dio song for a cancer fundraiser they do on his birthday which was about three weeks ago when Vinny Appici Dios former drummer gave them an unreleased version of the song for fundraiser.And they had one week to do it and it’s phenomenal.

Their Producer is their Dad (PaPa Liliac). He also does the videoing. He use to produce with MTV and eventually had a recording studio. Sam (the oldest, 22 now) also does the editing. They spent years performing on the Sana Monica pier when they were really young. They moved to Georgia a couple of years ago because of the covid lockdown in California.

Original was done by DIO. He is the hero for the lead singer but has passed away. The clean, crisp sound is a hallmark of their music. As good as they are on covers, their originals are also excellent. Almost all their videos are on their KZbin channel. Many thanks for this.

Wendy Dio posted this on the Ronnie James Dio Facebook page about a year, or maybe two, ago. Since then these kids have become friends with Vinny Appice, friend and drummer of the late, great Ronnie James Dio. Dio was a big inspiration for Melodia. Wendy Dio has since invited them to perform for the RJD Cancer Fundraiser (RJD died of cancer) and assigned them The Last in Line to sing, which they killed. You are a bit late to the Liliac phenomenon. These kids have taken the world by storm, not easy when you are totally independent. They have gotten all of the right attention and have released some 20+ original songs as well a slew of covers. Keep going down the rabbit hole as it leads to a bat cave. You won't be sorry. BTW, Liliac is Romanian for bat. It sounds much like the original. They add the Liliac touch to every cover but stay very true to the originals. BTW, their music producer is their Dad!

Melody, the lead, is a HUGE Dio fan. These guys were asked to play at the Dio Cancer Memorial (they were actually asked to perform The Last in Line). Nobody will ever be another Ronnie James, but these guys do one hell of a tribute (at least, his wife and bandmates sure think so).

Liliac pronounced lil ee ack sounds as close as you can get to the original . This is the cover that got the attention of Vince Appice, Dio's former drummer, and Wendy Dio, Ronnie James Dio's widow. They are both now huge supporters of this band, especially Vince. They and their Dad are the primary video "team", the lead guitar player does the video editing and they have greatly improved their video capabilities as later videos will show.

OK so you lose a little something if you don't know the original. You should check out Ronnie James Dio the king of rock. But you gain something too. The video and recording are basically homemade, their father is a producer, and films the videos. Sam the guitarist edits them. They do excellent covers as a rule, but also have 2 albums of originals. I said you lose something not knowing the original, but in return you hear them with no bias. This is indeed a great cover. It was a great reaction as well!

I just caught you. Loved your true reaction not knowing the artist or genre much. This is a family band. This is kind of the middle of there current ages. You can tell how early by how young Justin looks, keys, and Melody, singer, on bass. Ronnie James Dio is her main inspiration. Vinnie Appice, Black Sabbath/ DIO drummer has said many times that she is the reincarnation of a female DIO. They do excellent covers no matter what age they were, however they have fantastic originals too. If you do more of them, you gotta check out their originals. Their current ages range from 22 to 13. OK, as others have said, Liliac (pronounced LILY - ACK) is a family band first formed around 2013 or so, by the name of The Cristeas (their family name). And it was only the 3 oldest at the time, and they sang covers of pop songs, like a Rhianna song for example. However in 2015, when the two youngest kids were old enough to learn and play an instrument, they switched to playing Rock and Metal and changed their name to Liliac. Their first Rock cover was Wild Thing. The current bass player, starred off with rhythm guitar. The vocalist played bass early on, but dropped it in favor of being more of a frontwoman. That transition occurred between the videos Chain of Thorns and Dancing in the Dark. Their parents are Romanian. Their father grew up very near Vlad the Impaler's castle in Transylvania. The name Liliac means Bat in Romanian. And so the band adopted what they call Vamp Metal as their style. (It's more of a Look than a music style.) The father was a music producer and a sound engineer. So it was quite easy for him to put out great arrangements and mix the sound very well. You'll most definitely hear the bass in all of their videos and songs. The Keyboards come thru pretty good as well. Their mother handles all the Merch. They produce all music and videos themselves away from the big Record Labels which is a good thing, because it allows them to do what they want and not what the Labels want. The family originally lived in Seattle, but eventually moved to Santa Monica area where they performed on the Pier every weekend. But now they live in Georgia as of late 2020. In their video for Mystery they used the Georgia Guide Stones as a backdrop, which are located out in the country east of Atlanta. Now then, about Dio. Ronnie James Dio is, or shall I say, was an old school Metal vocalist going back to the 70s. He sang for Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own solo career under the name Dio. Holy Diver was the title track to his debut album, going back to 1983. Do yourself a favor and look up the original and then compare to Liliac'x cover of it, and you'll find that it's spot on....as are all their covers. Why? Because well, first of all, Melody, the vocalist is a huge fan of Dio and she draws her influence from him, and second, due to her raspy singing voice she can mimick many male vocalists depending on the band they're covering. That said, their Originals are also Extremely good as well, if not better than their covers. If you wanna blow up your channels views, and subscribers, do more Liliac songs and you'll see your channel grow big time.
