A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZbin. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZbin I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZbin won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZbin channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

She sang pop, rock, country, soul, classical, mariachi, Tex-Mex, and jazz standards. That’s all I can think of right now and no, I’m not exaggerating. She had hits for each of these.

@@williamcabell142 Hi. Things like “Tracks of my Tears,” or her role in the operetta “Pirates of Penzance,” or the TexMex and Mariachi she did in “Songs of my Father,” or the American pop standards she did with Nelson Riddle, or the Hank Williams and Dolly Parton songs don’t fit in that category of Cali.

You have discovered musical gold. She was the first female to sell out arenas in the 1970’s and then went on to do wonders in multiple genres spanning forty years. She had the sweetest, yet most powerful voice on the planet. That gorgeous talent was stolen about fifteen years ago by Parkinson’s disease. This was the late 70’s and was considered country/rock music. Need to fix your audio but great choice for a reaction👍

Maybe on a regular basis (selling out arenas) but Lynn Anderson was the first female singer to headline & sell-out Madison Square Garden in 1974. I may be wrong, but I don't think Linda was selling out arenas until after '74. Lynn Anderson was riding a string of country hits, propelled by her worldwide No.1 Monster - "Rose Garden" (1971). Love Linda R., though. I take NOTHING away from her remarkable career.

Blue Bayou was originally written and recorded by Roy Orbison. Now, a little about the amazing Ms. Ronstadt (you did pronounce her name correctly). In the 1970s she released 8 consecutive platinum (or multi platinum) albums. At one point her backup band consisted of the original members of the Eagles (you should really listen to her version of Desperado). In the early 1980s she went to New York where she performed in the opera Pirates of Penzance (videos can be found on KZbin). At this time she also recorded several albums of jazz standards. By the end of the decade she went to the record label and told them she wanted to do an album of Spanish music. That album is still the best selling non English album in America. She recorded 3 albums with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris under the name Trio. She has since retired due to Parkinson's Disease. Songs I'd recommend would include Desperado and You're No Good.

You can't club dance to it, but it is AMAZING for slow dancing. Just cheek dancing, Foxtrot, Nightclub Swing, and many other styles. And very romantic to dance with your sweetie to, also.

Linda became famous singing what’s been called Country/Rock fusion. Ronstadt was one of the first female musicians who sold out stadiums. She was huge in the 70s whether singing ballads like this or rockers like "You’re No Good". Later she just went and did her own thing and she was powerful/popular enough she could tell her record company to pound sand. She did several albums of Mexican music because they were songs she was raised on. Then she did a couple of albums of what are called the "standards". Music sung by Frank Sinatra, and crooners like that. And her albums sold amazingly well in each genre she tried. She no longer sings due to health problems but she’s been a huge influence on music, especially female singers.

I think you'll find that as you broaden your horizons you'll notice that there are many artists who don't fit neatly into a box as far as "genre" goes. There was a great deal of creativity in the 60's, 70's and 80's where people and groups could display a lot of versatility and cross over from one genre to another and still win over their fans regardless.

You are in for an incredible musical journey if you listen to more of Lovely Linda. Pure, clear, strong, sweet and distinctive voice with perfect pitch and so much warmth and emotion over a several octave range and always in control. No over the top B.S. singing like so many modern singers. She was the first female rock superstar, she sold out large venues in the 70s. Multiple huge hits with so much radio play. So many awards. So many genres - this was soft rock or Southern rock; she also sang pop, rock, country, punk/new wave, Spanish folk songs, jazz and the Great American Songbook, and operetta. No other artist, and she truly is an artist, has such range. I think her covers are better than the originals. She also sang duets and trios. Check out these songs: You're no good, Heatwave, Poor pitiful me, When will I be loved, Tracks of my tears, Just one look, Long long time, Don't know much, Cry like a rainstorm -howl like the wind, Still within the sound of my voice, Trouble again, So right so wrong, Tumbling dice, Get closer, That'll be the day, It doesn't matter anymore, Someone to lay down beside me, Hurt so bad, La Charreada, Desperado,, Poor wandering one from The Pirates of Penzance. Jazz standards such as Lush life, Bewitched bothered and bewildered, My funny valentine, Crazy he calls me, I'm a fool to want you, Round midnight, What'll I do, Lover man. I know this is a lot but its barely scratching the surface. She had an amazing career. Linda is a true musical talent!

As already mention she had hit songs in almost every genre, a definite crossover artist because she had a great set of pipes and many in the industry considered her to be the best singer in rock in particular. Beautiful voice and in her career she sold over 100 million records and is among the top artists of all time. She collaborated with more artists than I can name from Johhny Cash to Billy Eckstine (a singer from the 30's and 40's). Sadly she noticed that her voice was deteriorating and retired in I believe it was 2009 and shortly afterwards discovered that she was suffering from Parkinson's Disease and is unable to sing. Some of my favorites songs are "Different Drum" "Desperado" she did one that is an old traditional song where she collaborated with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris "I never will Marry" I love it because of the beautiful harmonies that the three women create on the song. I'm a fan and personally I like about almost everything she's ever done. A great singer, great set of pipes.

Rondstadt was a genre crosser like a lot of 70s musicians. The lines between rock, country, folk, blues, R&B were all pretty blurred. She hung with the folkie and "singer-songwriter" crowd, collaborating a fair amount with Neil Young who always defied genre categorization too. Oh yeah and she was a mega hottie with a hell of a voice!

Someone made the observation that country, blues & R&B are cousins. A little bit of each in all of them depending on the song & artist.

Kind of a low quality live performance. The studio version is amazing, and even other live versions I have heard are better. She is an incredible singer, and was a superstar back in the day.

A rock ‘n’ roll credit “you’re no good” She refuse to be contained in one genre. She also sang light opera on Broadway and actually did an opera La Bohème kzbin.info/www/bejne/poHTZ6GMpLKVqLc

Its cool that you're expanding your musical horizons. There's a lot of great music out there and it is a universal language.
