she is an icon in the true sense of the word. Icon is not the same as idol..it simply means "likeness". So she does represent Black British likeness through her art. I feel she has recycled an old classical model musically that people wasn't paying attention to because of whats popping on road and substandard shit. So through all the shallowness she came with depth and substance. If that becomes the normal then someone with return with some shallowness and take back the limelight. Its about doing what nobody else is doing.

This track doesn't even have 1 sample. Little Simz's advantage was always that she had her own team of strong in house producers. Whist most new artists have to make noise to get the attention of big name producers, or cover other peoples beats...Little Simz had a really unique, diverse and professional blend of live band and electronic production since the days she was releasing EPs and Mix tapes. This made her a uk rapper who sets herself apart in terms of album quality music. A lot of uk emcees kinda fell into the box of being "mixtape rappers" not really making cohesive and conceptual albums.

I would tune in to what's happening internationally from time to time. A great rabbithole to go down for this OG hiphop head.. Been enjoying Little Simz for some years now, but man, she leveled up with this. There are few artists that stand on top of social messages and deliver it as art anyone, anywhere can understand.
