The one from San Diego is too, because the set is longer. And if Seattle is Savage, San Diego is maybe more extreme by time. Also Lars had a funkier and better controlled groove in BA era, especially in the middle section he became better as opposite to what people might think. Both version are great. But on San Diego, its a bit faster than Seattle, the double bass licks with the riff are almost leaning death metal intensity

Dave Lombardo from Slayer is probably the best in the thrash metal genre but another great drummer is Charlie Benante of Anthrax, and Igor Cavalera of Sepultura.

I don't think live versions are the best for them to start listening to Metallica. Try Studio instead, maybe with lyrics also.

As for as thrash goes this is about as fast as it will go. But if you really want fast you need to check into other genres of metal..... death, gore, black metal, bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Hypocrisy, Exhumed, Behemoth..... just to name a few. Then you have death core metal etc etc etc 🤘😎🤘🇺🇸

@JMitch67 I should've been more specific in my comment about the speed. I was referring to Lars, but without a doubt Slayer all day would out pace Metallica..... at least they kept up to their genre, Metallica became more rock/metal-ish 🤘😎🤘
