They were marketed in Europe Asia Middle East and Africa... In the US it was exclusively underground club stuff. Obviously people didn't dance to Madonna or Michael Jackson in the clubs in the 80's. This is what DJ's played at 3 am. Also these artists were heavily sampled in many other songs by DJ's. They fall into Italo-Disco category and were massively popular in the clubs. CC Catch, Bad Boys Blue, Savage, the list is endless for that era... This was the music that DJ's worked with back then.. Radio stations also used lots of these tracks at night. Like Chicago's WBMX and Seattle's 89.5fm..

They have so many amazing songs, they sold 120m records in just 7-8 years they were together (with a break). One of best german bands ever. Catchy melody, lyrics, amazing voice, the high chorus and the deep undertone. PS: His wife back then wanted him to wear the chain and the lipstick and was very yoko-ono like. She didn't want female interviewers and wanted to change videos etc. She almost owned him back then. That's why!

There where weeks with 3 of their songs at the same time in the Top 20. Major 80's hits: “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul”, “Brother Louie”, "Cheri Cheri Lady", "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. Nobody say a word about that MASSIVE composer Dieter Bohlen _the blonde guy;he wrote every single song and all their lyrics; out of this he wrote for C.C.Catch all her songs..and also an entire album for Chris Norman(Midnight lady:song says something to you?).Out of this Dieter has his own band Blue System and released as well few albums.I consider him one of the greatest composer on 80s in Europe and i saw him as judge in Germany show The Voice if im not wrong Thomas was a great voice but without Dieter no Modern Talking could exist.

You should react to more 80's club artists like this... Italo disco genre was mostly underground but very popular.. People danced and did drugs at 3 am on the dancefloor to this, not mainstream stuff obviously lol. Try Bad Boys Blue from 1985-1986 albums. all club hits, also C.C. Catch - Heaven and Hell official video tho.. Get the feel of the 80's club life. yes her original 80's stuff and bad boys Blue originals have too many copies on youtube so combined some songs can add up to 1b vies.. Try Sabrina - Boys... Millions views of course.. 80's are endless and very unusual compared to other decades.

While I can't say if he was bi or gay, I never looked it up, or even care too much. But a lot of artists dressed in 80's Glam, which was mostly started by David Bowie, I believe. There was also an episode of That 70's Show where Jacky had Kelso dress up in Glam to look like Bowie. It started in the 70s, but got popular in the late 70's, early 80's. Also part of the big hair phase for both men and women. Pretty much every 80's rocker group.

The singer, Thomas Anders, is not gay or bisexual. In fact, He's straight and he married a possessive woman who lead to break this duo (she force him to wear a necklace with her name on it "Nora". You can see it on this video). He act as a gay due to producers because at this time, gay bands work great like "pet shop boys", "depech mode", "the communards/bronsky beat","erasure", etc...Both Modern Talking member, Thomas Anders and Dieter Bohlen are straight and married several time with women.

Unisex was the thing in the 80's. I think it's the only decade when it was normalized for men to color hair and do perm, wearing make up of course, earring was a must, bracelets, etc.. If you didn't do any of that you were just not cool. So if teens today would time travel to the 80's, they would be considered geeks and would get bullied most likely... Yea standards of what's cool or not has changed lots since then hahaha. The war on drugs and aids pandemic scared everyone and by 2000's everyone already looked bland and boring... but youngsters didn't know what was it like before cause no interent yet for another 10 years...
