Just a warning, after listening to BTS and mamamoo, your standards are gonna be so high. Like they're the complete package. They write, produce, compose, sing, rap, dance. I'll always be proud of them for achieving all that they did coming from small industry with no money. They constantly break stereotypes and are themselves in an industry that doesn't allow them to be themselves. When it comes to live performances, no one can beat BTS and mamamoo. It's crazy how good they are and it baffles me how underrated mamamoo is globally. They're actually pretty big in Korea but they deserve so much more recognition. Moonbyul my queen is the most credited 3rd gen female kpop idol.

now they don't. in the past they did: 2ne1 and CL solo. there is no masculine style so there are no stereotypes to break. it's urban/hip hop dance and anyone can do it. here in my country there are female groups from various dance schools that learn dancing and they do hip-hop dance performances in various places. and i'm not talking about 1 year ago, but since 10+ years ago.

Actually among all members, moonbyul's album got 2nd highest selling in a week after solar's album. Eclipse also on the billboard chart. I feel the main reason was because the majority of Byul's fans are CMoos (china), and YT is not available in China, so they were unable to do streaming as easily as the rest of the world. If YT is available in china, I am pretty certain she will have the highest view amongst the whole group. 🥺

OMG I can't believe you reacted to Moonbyul! She's so amazing, and MAMAMOO (she's the rapper of the group of 4) is hands down the most talented female vocalists in KPop. Moonbyul is known for her really deep voice. She also plays on her name and Monster in the song. Byul in korean means star, and her members often call her MoonStar as a nickname. In Korean MoonStar sounds like Monster, so youre right, she is talking about herself in that part. Female Kpop stars just don't do music like this, which is a shame! She's breaking so many stereotypes by doing a song and music video concept like this. Moonbyul and Mamamoo are so underrated! They are queens! Eclipse is such a good wordplay of her own name. Her name is Moonbyeol. Moon as moon and byeol in korean means "star". So basically she can be an eclipse by herself. That also includes the Moonstar reference. And Moonbyul is a part of a kpop group Mamamoo. You need to check on them. They make really good music anx they are extrmely talented. I personally recommand you "egotistic" by them.

Moonbyul is one of the members of Mamamoo - the rapper of the group. Like BTS, they are heavily involved in the writing of their music, and speak on real subjects. Things that polite society doesn't necessarily think is appropriate for young ladies to sing about. They're not crass and foul mouthed, they're just real with their lyrics. They sing what they feel, they sing their emotions, they're not afraid to express their anger and frustrations, they're perfectly willing to be vulnerable with their music. In my opinion, if you rank BTS as the kings of kpop, then I would rank Mamamoo as the queens of kpop. They're not puppets to their company, they are legit strong women, who choose substance over conformity. They are true queens in that they like what they like, they dress the way they want to dress, and they behave the way they want to behave, even when that goes counter to what is expected by Korean society. And, like BTS, each member has solo stuff, as well as their music they do together. Their fandom is called MooMoos ("mu" is the Korean word for a Korean giant radish, so their lightstick is in the shape of a large radish), and the ladies of Mamamoo are considered to have some of the best, if not THE best vocals and harmonies in all of kpop. And yes, like some of the other comments have mentioned, kpop idols have a '92 (born in 1992) liners chat, which Jin and Moonbyul are both a part of, and the two of them are very good friends, texting support to each other all the time. The two groups are also very very supportive of each other, cheering the loudest and most enthusiastically for one another. And Solar (the leader of Mamamoo) is a HUGE fan of Blood, Sweat, & Tears - she just can't NOT dance when the song plays, and Mamamoo have covered BTS' songs on stage as well.

she is 2nd or 3rd most credited female rapper in kpop. how's this underrated? the thing is that Mamamoo are in a small record label and they don't appear in the West so their fanbase is small. but in Korea where they appear on tv/radio shows, etc all the time so they're extremely popular. Mamamoo are 1 of the very few groups that are called artists and not idols. this is a big deal. watch DKDTV video where they ask Korean people on the street about Mamamoo and look what people say. it's very rare to see people talk like this about a kpop group.

Mamamoo underrated? in Korea Mamamoo are called artists and not idols. you don't call artists someone who is underrated. Mamamoo just have small fanbase internationally. they don't make live shows in the West so they don't have big international fanbase like BTS and Blackpink. Immortal Songs show invites Mamamoo constantly, but due to their schedule they have to reject. if they were underrated Immortal Songs wouldn't bother to invite them again.

Moonbyul is from my favourite girl group Mamamoo 😍 she snapped! One of the best kpop female rapper, along with Soyeon from (g)Idle. "moon" means DOOR in korean but in english it's also a word, so she plays with the words "door" and "moon" in the song. "byul" means STAR in korean so she also plays with that. MOONSTAR is another name she uses, like a full english name. the whole song is about her playing with her own name and this dark/light sides she has (everyone has tbh). she IS both dark and light sides, when they come together they make an eclipse. (or as we joke, this song is about Moonstar blocking Solar (real name: yongSUN), one of the members from Mamamoo, the group Moonbyul is a part of. together they are MOONSUN, or an eclipse hahah)

I do agree with you about the impressive effort that K-Pop brings over Western Artists. To be honest, I have never really enjoyed Western Pop music - mainly preferring alternative, indie and rock styles, but Korean popular music has blown me away. The level of entertainment is so incredibly high and the attention to detail is beyond anything I've seen before in Western music. Definitely hard to go back!!!

it doesn't matter in what ranking you are. what matters is how much you get paid. Lisa from Blackpink may not be the 2nd or 1st credited but she gets paid more cause her songs make more money. and it doesn't matter if she breaks stereotypes. only Mamamoo fans care about this no thing. i highly doubt Lisa cares with 400+ million views for 1 song, 75 million views in 1 day which makes her the 1st female soloist that achieved this, etc records she broke. Kpop fans, media, etc gave more focus to Lisa that broke several records than Moonbyul for breaking stereotypes.

Mamamoo may not have achieved the same level of success as other idol groups, but in my opinion they blow all the other girl groups out of the water. Their vocals especially are unmatched. You have to listen to their music Anthony, you will definitely not be disappointed.

Very good reaction 🤯. Your comments about k-Pop is why I stopped listening to radio for years, plus there are so many groups and styles to discover. Most of the time I check out Western artist is because of a collaboration with that group.

"When the moon covers the sun" Mamamoo's Moonbyul is the moon, Mamamoo's Solar is the sun. Moonbyul and Solar have been heavily shipped together almost since day one. Moonbyul likes to troll Solar for fun and Solar likes it. Hence another fun interpretation of the lyrics, ie Moonbyul covers Solar.
