I absolutely idolize Neil Diamond. I've attended 9 concerts in Melbourne Australia. This song is about how he went from growing up in Brooklyn New York . He couldn't get anyone to take notice of his music. So he packed a bag and his guitar alone and headed to LA. He was I think around 19 or so. He burned in the streets to survive. Then he was finally able to record his music and get it out there. The rest is history. Absolutely lovely man. I was devastated to hear of his Parkinson's diagnosis 3 years ago. I was due to see my 10th concert when he had to cancel because of his diagnosis. Drs believed Australia was too far for him to travel. Love you Neil ❤🎤🎶

I love your take on it. My take on it, is that when he is saying "I am, I cried" "I am, I said" it sounds like he is struggling to even be seen. He's telling us that "he is" "he is", he is relevant, he is there, but he's not seen by anyone, not even the chair. Neil is such an extremely powerful and emotionally procuring singer, I truly miss him as an artist, I'm a 62-year-old woman who grew up with him in my home. I enjoyed your take on it, and I see how choked up you are about missing your home. I hope you find an equal balance between your home and where you currently are at the moment. 🫶🫶🏻🫶🏼🫶🏽🫶🏾🫶🏿

Neil began as a song writer, in demoing his songs, it was suggested that he should record them himself. It was a brilliant move because he imbued his creations with as much emotion as he was trying to convey in the composition and lyrics. He, for the most part, wrote songs that expressed deep emotions that we can relate to. He became known as the virtuoso of the heat stings. As for his voice, it was said he could sing the phone book (If you are old enough to remember phone books) and bring you to tears or exalt your spirit. He inhabited everything he preformed.

This is a song from a 1971 BBC TV Special. It's actually one of the few live performances of that period that exist on video, which is a shame since Neil's 1972 Hot August Night live album is considered one of the best live albums ever. Anyway, this man has sold about 135 million albums, received numerous awards, sold out huge arenas and stadiums around the world and his songs were covered by the greatest (Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, etc.). One of the best singer-songwriters ever, with a truly amazing, distinctive and powerful voice, deep lyrics and tons of charisma. He also has impeccable phrasing: unlike many other artists, you can actually understand every word he's singing. Please review Brooklyn Roads, a song about his youth, or Holly Holy, Solitary Man, America, Dry Your Eyes, Beautiful Noise... He has a huge catalogue to choose from.
