Michael Bivins discovered Boyz To Men when they were Students at their Performing Arts High School in Philadelphia, PA. These guys were the "First" Boy Band (Pardon The Pun) for the Video Age. These guys kicked the door for every Boyband that came after them, Black/White US/UK. After them Maurice Starr (Their Former Manager who scammed them), created New Kids On The Block (A White Version Of Them), then in The UK Take That was created to be the UK Version of New Kids. To this day no Boyband can say they don't owe their success to these guys. Next year will be their 40th Anniversary but sadly enough they didn't get "Paid". They were created in the 1980's in Roxbury, MA., which was a Lower Middle Class Blue Collar Neighborhood with a large Black Population. This is where they were more "Mature". Bobby Brown had gotten fired and was doing his Solo Career and Johnny Gill replaced them. They also hold the distinction of having hits with each other but "without" each other. Only One Direction (UK) was able to do that.

Actually Boyz II Men was discovered by Michael Bivins who is a member of New Edition. That’s where they got their name as well. New Edition has an amazing song called Boyz II Men. Definitely check that one out!

We saw New Edition , Boys to Men and all these bands live in concert every time they came to our town. So many memories.. 70’s, 80’s s and 90’s.. Music will never be the same again unfortunately..

OMG. I an dying right now. This is my favorite grouo of akl time. I have been a fan since about 1982. You have to go back to their first hit. "Candy Girl" and watch them evolve from there. Every little black girl( other girls too) my age fell in love. They were supposed to be the second coming of the Jackson 5. Anyways....I saw them perform fornthe fourth time about 5 years ago and they are still great and they gave 110% at that performance. I could go on and on❤❤❤

Back in the 80's, New Edition was introduced as the new edition of the Jackson 5's, because they were the newest of the boy bands in a long time. The youngest was 13 and the oldest was 15. From New Edition we have several acts that are out standing performers. 1st was Bobby Brown. When he left Johnny Gill joined the group. Then they made several solo acts. So actually they go a little something like this: Bobby Brown BBD Ralph Tresvant Johnny Gill Then members of the group introduced other acts: Boyz II Men ABC. In NSYNC and Backstreet Boys formed when New Edition members were working on solo projects. Two groups u should try as well. The song u just did was their "We're still here" song. New Kids on the Block was formed by the same producer to essentially be the white New Edition. They became so popular there had not been a teen frenzy like that in the 30 years since the Beatles. Michael Bivens from New Edition discovered Boyz to Men. Bobby Brown, who was married to Whitney Houston, was an original member. The group formed in 1978, but had their first hit in 1983. “If It Isn’t Love” should be next. Also check out Candy Girl and Mr. Telephone Man. The individual members also have big hits.

This is 1989. The group Boys II Men released their first album in 1991. FYI, The first singer on this song is Johnny Gill. He replaced Bobby Brown after he was kicked out of the group. Johnny Gill released a solo album in 1990, which included the hit “rub you the right way”

They are from Boston. Boys to men got their name from one of New Edition songs. Original members were Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivens and Ronnie Devoe. Johnny Gill came after Bobby left

Ah yes.... Legendary New Edition: Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant , Johnny Gill, Ronnie Devoe, Ricky Bell, and Michael Bivens (Bivens discovered Boys II Men- as you see in the Motown Philly video.) 40 years of classics (they started as kids in the late 70s. Gill joined the group in the late 80s after Bobby went solo.) All went solo except for Bell Bivens and Devoe who instead stayed together and formed BBD. BBD is a super successful and legendary R&B group in their own right as well. Regardless of how one listens to New Edition- young, new, old, together, solo, or trio’d- you’ll always get your soul filled. ❤️❤️ Up until COVID interrupted everything... they were all still touring around the country together. Since your hittin up NE- the group Jodeci deserves your attention VERY soon.
