Hello King of The Mix [ @KingGreatnessKG ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This music video is the 1st single released in advance from their upcoming studio album Yesterwynde (2024), featuring Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, .and (at the end) Troy Donockley, multi-instrumentalist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I'm 62 and saw 1000s of bands while living in New York, 1000s more bands and performers while living on Music Row and the Rock Block in Nashville. Witnessed countless precious musical moments, but Nightwish is on another level entirely. The thoughtful care and craft of each song is without parallel. 'Song' seems too weak a word when describing the art created by Nightwish. From the writing and composition of Tuomas, to the playing and vocals of the band, to the videos created by Ville Lipiäinen these are craftsman creating art of the highest form. I feel very fortunate to have found them, they've added greatly to my life.

For one thing, there is no video to distract one from the music 😊 To see what they are like in live performance, the song "Ghost Love Score" from their Wacken 2013 concert is one of the 3 most reacted to songs in KZbin history. There is a real orchestra and choirs in this mix, along with the usual band instruments. Bass lines and drums are intense. Video does actually use parts of Nat Geo footage of freedivers, and footage from the UK Natual History museum. See credits for the video.

Maybe go back to 2013 and see footage of their concert at Wacken and the song Ghost Love Score. At the time vocalist Floor Jansen had toured with the band less than a year and became that year full member of the band, with multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley whose voice you hear at the end of the song.

Hi, I guess it was totally new for you to get a glimpse of introduction to melodiy metal. Kind of disturbing is that one cannot see anything of the masterpiece of video construction and the important lyrics shown in it in the beginning, so I would really recommend everyone to have a look at the original - it's worth it.
