Thank you for introducing me to this band. Absolutely what used to be referred to as "grrrrrl power." I have a daughter about your age and while I will occasionally disagree with her on issues, she has really internalized this spirit. If I knew what we did as she was growing up to bring her to this place, I'd be yelling it from the rooftops! But whatever it was that we did, whatever the parents of these young women did, it won't work on anyone else's child. So much of parenting is "guess and hope": guess what to do, and hope it turns out well. Sometimes you can see something you did work, and you pat yourself on the back and feel really good about yourself. But those four moments are all you get. The rest of parenting is soooo opaque. But kudos to the parents of these musicians. Big pat on the back for this.

Thanks Amanda, their vocalist/guitarist Marsya, is a survivor also (multiple attempts) and has let out some very intense and raw emotions on ig and in some interviews. The mental strength she has shown is astonishing (the other band members also, but Marsya gets the brunt of the attacks, both verbal and physical). This band has principles and convictions far beyond what most people realize. They are much more than just music! Humanity for all!❤

You make so many great points about this song and it's powerful message. I think it may have been partly inspired by an incident Marsya recounted onstage during their first European tour, in which I believe some teenage girls were being systematically exploited by a teacher (I may be misremembering the details), and, when it was uncovered, the girls bore the brunt of the persecution for the actions of the teacher(s). She did get quite emotional about it, and it certainly made my blood boil to think about. Also, by this time the girls will have played their first gigs in the UK, the first in a small underground venue, and the second at Glastonbury(!). The clips I've seen show that VOB absolutely slays both stages, to a great reception from the audience. I feel like an older relative of theirs feeling immensely proud seeing his younger relatives conquering the world, and I'm beaming from ear to ear lol.

I want to ask something, atheists and liberals moral values that are always changing according to the "consent of the community" The principle is to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone, "love is love and YOLO". What about Inces that is based on "love is love" by equally mature and conscious people? And if you think it's wrong or right, what is your moral base?
@MentalAmanda6 ай бұрын
While many atheists and liberals may advocate for values that prioritize individual freedom and consent, their moral foundations can still be nuanced and varied. The principle of "do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone" is indeed a common liberal and secular ethical stance. It emphasizes personal autonomy and the prevention of harm to others. The idea that "love is love" supports the notion that consenting adults should be free to engage in relationships without societal interference, provided that no harm is caused. The question of incest between "equally mature and conscious people" is contentious. Most societies and legal systems prohibit incest due to concerns about potential harm, such as genetic risks to offspring and power dynamics that can affect genuine consent. Even among those who prioritize consent, these concerns often lead to a moral stance against incest. The ethical reasoning here often includes the potential for harm, both to potential offspring and to the individuals involved, due to complex psychological and social dynamics. If someone believes incest is wrong or right, their moral base could be rooted in various frameworks. Utilitarianism, for instance, evaluates the consequences of actions. From this perspective, incest might be considered wrong due to potential harm, like genetic risks and psychological impacts. Deontological ethics, which follows certain rules or duties, also often includes prohibitions against incest due to its potential to disrupt social and familial structures. Virtue ethics, which focuses on the character and virtues of individuals, might view incest as incompatible with virtues like respect for family bonds. Social contract theory, which considers societal agreements, often supports prohibitions against incest to promote overall social well-being.

Okay I got a question. It's going to sound like I'm being a jerk but I'm truly inquiring. Anyone here that has insight feel free to answer. So I was just watching your it's My Life reaction video and it said suicide survivor. But you're gorgeous. What would one of the beautiful people have to worry about that would lead them to possibly try to hurt themselves. ( I'm from the 90s the Marilyn Manson song beautiful people is meant to mock attractive people.). Now let's use me for an example I'm a fat ugly loser. I've had relationships but they've all failed. The only reason I haven't done anything bad is well two reasons, I'm afraid of the possibility that it is one of the things that sends you to hell and number two my mom passed away and she was very much against suicide and I know hurting myself like that would break her heart. But my main point of this comment once again you're gorgeous. Anytime I see a tractor with people whether guys or girls and they talk about suicide I'm just like really? Are you just being dramatic? I just don't get what someone is good-looking has to be depressed about. I mean at least when you wake up in the morning and you look in the mirror you like what you see. You don't look in the mirror and cry. To be clear I don't hate myself. I hate what I look like. It's hard to make friends these days. Life is lonely. All the friends I had as kids have grown up and moved on. You know when I was a kid someone once told me the older you get if you're not married the more lonely life gets. I didn't understand it until the past couple years.
@Dientjuhh6 ай бұрын
Doesn't matter if she is attractive or not. It's all about the mind. One doesn't care is she looks good when she is feeling terrible from the inside. As for you, if you don't like how you look in the mirror: do something about it. You can always improve yourself. Go to the gym, get a new haircut and don't forget to smile everyday🙃 remember: "if nothings happens, nothing happens".
@MentalAmanda6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. Attractiveness or outward appearance doesn't shield anyone from internal battles or mental health challenges. Mental health issues can affect anyone, regardless of how they look on the outside. They can stem from various factors such as genetics, life experiences, trauma, or biochemical imbalances. I've had many relationships fail, have been physically and emotionally abused and cheated on. You're also assuming that I like what I see in the mirror. While my self esteem is much better than it used to be, it took a LOT of work. I was the outcast in school who never had a date and the guys I pursued as an adult rejected me, several telling me they were out of my league. I have looked in the mirror and cried many many times. I assessed what I could change and acted accordingly and worked on accepting what I couldn't through therapy and personal development. You have that same power!
