To actually take this song in to its fullest is to listen to the studio version so you could hear how Cliff played it. Rob is good but the reason this song is so great is Cliff on the bass, it is truly a masterpiece.

Yes, you cannot have the same experience on the first decade of Metallica without Cliff. There's a reason they don't play some older songs live. Some out of respect, others because no other bassist can do what Cliff could.

I have been saying that for the last 3+ Metallica songs they have reacted to. I’m glad I’m not the only one who wants to see that reaction. Such a poignant and powerful song when you know the story behind it. Really heavy stuff and imagine James as a child screaming in pain in those lyrics. With their instrumental kick, I want so bad for them to do Pulling Teeth. That song you see the true beauty that made Cliff Burton something special. It’s also why I personally feel that if there was no Cliff Burton, we wouldn’t have Metallica.

Always a moving tribute to Cliff when they play Orion live in concert, Robert Trujillo does the bass parts justice but the studio version is a masterpiece and Cliff Burton's swan song; he was killed in a tour bus accident in Sweden in 1986, their tour bus swerved then rolled over, Cliff was thrown out a window and the bus landed on top of him...hell of a way to go

Ya'll should check out some Pantera. This is all preference of course, but I prefer Dimebag Darrell's guitar playing over Kirk and James. The mainstream intro to the band would be "Walk" but there are so many great songs to choose from by them. Personally, I would highly recommend "Domination" but you guys already did it 3 months ago. That breakdown at the end fueled my love for breakdowns early on in my metal journey. Maybe check out something like Cemetery Gates. It has some soul in it and some heaviness R.I.P Dimebag

'Orion' was the instrumental on the 1986 album 'Master of Puppets'... (Metallica was from the 80's) It was largely the work of bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed in a tour bus accident in 1986 at age 24 and he was a schooled musician. If u listen to the studio version, there's the quiet section w/ bass that sounds like a cosmic soundtrack and a very sad, mournful solo from Kirk Hammett... It was almost like Cliff Burton had an inkling that he was not going to make it and this piece of music was him saying 'goodbye'. Cliff's sister Connie Burton said in an interview that her brother was not religious (as far as she knew... he loved smoking pot 😁) but often, she would see Cliff up every morning in their parents' house watching Bill Graham Ministries on TV and repeating a line about "the kingdom of salvation"... The members of Metallica also recalled Cliff would be talking about 'the kingdom of salvation' from Bill Graham ministries and wrote a short poem while he was alive. After he died, Metallica recorded 'To live is to die' in 1988 and added Cliff Burton's poem as a spoken word in the instrumental track.

It’s cool to see u guys expanding your musical horizons, mad props. Also what u said was exactly on point. Everybody in the band has a job to do. The drummers job is to make sure the rhythm is solid, the guitar has to provide melody and harmony, the bass locks in with the rhythm of the drums and the harmony of the guitar to make them fit together, and the singer has to look good on stage lol.

Στούντιο version is the best by far>> Trust me, studio is completely different song and much much better than lives This live cant give any emotions,vibes,feelings...you just have to listen the studio. Its too deep bros You have to FEEL the strong rhythm emotions in the begining then in the mid it slows goes soft a litle sad but VERY VERY MELODIC so many notes harmonic riffs and melodies there!!...THEN THE PAUSE... THAT FEELING NOT FROM THIS WORLD guys...you have to feel that deffinetely.Gyus im telling you...Im 35 year Greek metallica-head and i listen this since i was 15.You have to go with a studio version video reaction.Trust me.Lots of love from Greece.I m deffinetely addicted to you gyus and i love the way you fall in love with metallica sounds.Cant wait litteraly to see more videos from you!

Check out the studio album version of this, this song has way more feeling to it with Cliff Burton on bass rather than Robert Trujillo

You said Metallica is musical genius. I wrote that about a band called Deep Purple who came out in the late 60's (and still play today). They were way before their time. A few of my favorite songs of theirs is Perfect Strangers, Smoke on the Water and Highway Star. Their song Child in Time is about the Viet Nam war. Their lead singer's vocals are insane. Especially in 'Child in Time.' Each one of these guys has been on the 'best list of' whatever instrument he plays. They are rock gods.

Cliff was a genius. He played a big part in developing that thrash Metallica sound.

My buddy Bryan never touched a guitar until he was almost mid 30's. He's 44 now and he's not bad at all. He can jam out. It's not too late for any of you to give it a try. Guitar would be the most fun. In my opinion. You get all the glory too!

Talvez uma das cinco maiores músicas instrumentais do rock de todos os tempos, peso, melodia, técnica, música clássica, jazz, simplesmente perfeita...
