Fun fact : Everyone sings Four Calling Birds nowadays, but when the words only were printed in around 1780 ( no music as it was thought to be a spoken rhyme), it was 'Four Colly Birds' thought to be referring to 'coal black' birds as coal was spelled 'Col' in the 16th century . Our music teacher at school would always yell ' COLLY BIRDS ! if we sang 'Calling ' instead...not that we ever did it on purpose to rile him up 😉

I love this one! As you stated, they start out very traditionally, at 5 days it’s “oh nice, Kevin is singing” then chaos ensues and they go on a crazy genre tour. Way to change up a repetitive and somewhat boring song! Thank you for this PTXmas gift!

I'm not certain this is how they planned it..... but.... I know Mitch likes techno music, so he gets to sing it. Matt plays the drums, therefore he got to sing about drummers drumming. Kevin plays the sax, so pipers piping is the closest they could get to that. When Scott was interviewed about his favorite style of Christmas music, he mentioned Sinatra's Christmas songs, which is the style he sang for number 12. Kevin changes the beatboxing for each day on Day 12. AMAZING!! I agree about Kevin...he had a lot of work to do.

In addition, Kirstie's parts were Latin salsa (she's Latina) and ABBA inspired (for 11 ladies dancing, aka Dancing Queen). So yes, these were all very intentional, creative, and brilliantly executed choices!

Sooo I always had a love/hate relationship to this song! Once you get to 5 golden rings in most versions- I mentally check out!! When I hear Scott do 12 days I always think Michael Buble for some reason, but I totally get your take on 40's-50's maybe Dean Martin-ish.

Well basically most of Michael Buble's musical style is based on the old Crooners of the 40's and 50's. He very much tries to replicate that Era. So it makes sense.

Probably my least favorite carol cuz it's so damn repetitive. And then they thought, hmmmm how can we fix this song - and they did. So creative and entertaining. Still don't love the song itself, but their version is so good. Be sure to add O Holy Night to your Christmas lineup - released today, it's stunning both visually and vocally.
