Poison has always been the Party Rock Band that partied hard and played hard on stage, in the early years especially. I’ve been going to Poison concerts since 1988 and they were wild then ! And today they are still all about just having fun and making music on stage. I’m sure that scene in this video were the bass player Bobby Is being helped to his feet is towards the end of that concert and because he was both exhausted and had a little too much to drink. Check out more Poison videos like , “ Nothing But a Good Time “ , Fallen Angel “, Flesh snd Blood” , “ I want Action”, “ Unskinny Bop” , “ Ride the Wind “ , “ Mama don’t dance “ , and so many more ! Definitely go see Poison this summer when they are there in Indy with Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and yes Joan Jett and the Blackhearts !

The vocals… Bret Michaels. Yesterday was his 59th birthday! He wrote the song about a stripper he was in love with. She played him… badly. He actually never recovered, never married, never been able to trust again. He is playing acoustic guitar. The guitar solo by CC DeVille, so talented. Gave everything up for drugs. They were actually playing on live TV at Grammys and CC played the wrong song. Off stage Bret went after him. Beat the crap outta CC. Fired him. Bobby Dahl on bass guitar. They carried him off because he was STONED and was about to pass out. Drummer Ricky Rocket has had a rough time with cancer from HPV. With new immunotherapy, he actually is cured. If you are going to their concert this year, you will be fortunate to see all four original members. That’s unusual. For a band with the party and fighting history, someone is usually pissed or dead. Enjoy the concert …. Be prepared. ANYTHING GOES… at a rock concert. ANYTHING! Last time I saw Poison was in early 2000s. Brett is a severe diabetic and several years ago had a brain aneurysm that almost killed him. After recovering, his style mellowed but his performance actually got less flashy but had more substance. It was a great show with Quiet Riot and Warrant. New comer that opened for the main event…. Kid Rock. Def Leppard will blow you away but understand, these guys are not the same as they are in these videos. Time takes a toll. Joe Elliott, lead vocal for Def Leppard can’t hit those high squeals he used to and Vince Neal of Motley Crue is so fat, he can’t sing at all. Had to leave in the middle of a concert, not long ago. But in our prime…. We were all smokin….

I was never a fan of the big hair bands.. did love this song. Tough to get old.. I'm all gray haired and not what was in the day. Video put most performers in bottles where they never changed. Elvis was perfection in my mind.. but he got old and fat and died laying in the bathroom.. yuk. I wanted to keep my Elvis in that perfect bottled state.

@@creinicke1000 Yup! Age happens to all of us. I never got into the glam or hair band LABELS. It’s very deceiving. They were mostly talented young men sharing that gift with us. I admire talent. I can’t play a guitar or sing but I enjoy those who can, and love so much that you can see how much fun they are having. Songwriting…. From Lennon to Dylan to Ozzy, that’s an amazing talent Add long luxurious hair, some guyliner and a pair of tight jeans…. This old lady pays attention. Wink wink! LOL. But when it’s time to retire…. Go with class. No one’s gonna remember Vince young. He’s gonna be that guy that walked out of a concert because he needed oxygen.

Fun fact every band member from Poison with the exception of CC is from Pennsylvania. CC joined the band after they left Pennsylvania and went to LA. The original guitarist Matt Smith left the band to go back to Pennsylvania after he found out he was gonna be a father. And the rest is history CC joined and the club band Paris from Pennsylvania became Poison in LA. I will be seeing the Stadium Tour on July 12th when they come to Hershey,Pennsylvania

This song saved my life. I was riding with my sister one night after going to our hometown to visit some friends and family. I had worked all night the night before and stayed up all day. She told me to go to sleep and she would drive home. She had one of those old flat-nosed vans from like the 80's. I popped a mixtape she had in the van into the cassette player and closed my eyes. This song was the last song on the mixtape and after It went off I opened my eyes to change it. My sister had fallen asleep at the wheel and we drifted off the side of the road and headed for a telephone pole maybe 50 feet away. Had that tape not clicked off we would have hit that pole going at least 55 miles per hour. I tell everyone this song saved my life. To this very day, I can not sleep when someone else is driving. I don't care how tired I am.

According to Bret Michaels (lead vocals) of Poison, he wrote 'Every rose has its thorn' about heartbreak, after discovering his girl was cheating on him while he was on tour... it became a #1 single in 1988 from Poison's 2nd album 'Open up & say aah!' Poison got a lot of hate cos girls loved 'em, but they were all about having a good time... they score 3 multi platinum records by 1991... but then Nirvana, Pearl Jam & the grunge rock scene killed their popularity in 1992... and original guitarist C.C. DeVille was fired around '91... In 1993, Poison released a really good album 'Native tongue' w/ guitarist Ritchie Kotzen, but Poison was the antithesis of what was popular that year. Thankfully, the original Poison (Singer Bret Michaels, guitarist C.C. DeVille, bassist Bobby Dall & drummer Rikki Rocket) did reunite, despite not releasing any new music for decades... but enjoyed a surge in popularity. Bret Michaels also launched a solo career and did reality TV (Eminem kinda dressed up like Michaels in the video for 'We made you') The footage from the video was a live concert from 1988 (?) when Poison was headlining their own arena tours as their 2nd album became a massive hit. Performers on stage have often collapsed from exhaustion or heat, and have to be carried offstage and given oxygen or medical treatment... that was for real. I recall people talking about (late singer) Meat Loaf touring in 1978 and he was a big fella... So, when he came off the stage from performing, he would usually collapse on the floor backstage from exhaustion, while people just walked around him. He had to be given oxygen to get him up & moving.

Bret Michaels did not write this song. A friend of mine actually wrote it in 1983 and sent it to the "songs and songwriters wanted" advertisement in the back pages of Rolling Stone magazine. It wasn't until years later that he heard it on the radio and acknowledged that it was actually his song they were using. Just a few adverbs and adjectives were conjugated differently, but it was definitely his song. I saw the spiral notebook with the original writing of it dated 1983. And no, it wasn't faked. It was virtually the same song. Although the original title was every rose has A thorn. He never copyrighted it or anything like that so he was basically SOL on any type of "compensation". Just a useless fun fact I figured I would share with you. Actually, every time this song comes up in conversation I feel obligated to share the true story about its origin. BTW.... Achy Breaky Heart wasn't written by Billy Ray Cyrus either. It was written by four brothers who were in a family band together. It was written by them and it was called Achin' Breakin' Heart.... until Billy Ray's management got a hold of it and made it their own. The music industry is heartless

They carried the guy off stage because he was exhausted from putting all of his energy and emotion out in a live performance.

Bret got carried off stage at Daytona beach in 1988/9 on tour with Vixen , it was a super hot day and heat exhaustion took over , well that's what we will go with ! The coke and parties had nothing to do with it ok !

Clear as mud. She heard it where? Roses are known for their aroma. Maybe someone sniffed too deep on something? It was the times, everybody knew somebody. A cautionary cantata. That sounds like a killer show, you gotta go!! Stacked bills rule! Live and outside's my favourite. Best if I'm playing. (Did a counter G-7 or 20 summit show on Toronto Island in '88*.) 2nd is if everybody else is. Had our way of doing 'em back then, ykwim? 8>D Definitely not some over-policed enclosed thing with outrageous drink and food rules and prices, no byo!! *We were heavy psychedelic art-post punk funk and whatever. Cool industrial band followed us. Good times, my son was 4 months, we all had a beautiful day.

The hardest sounding song they have is "Look What the Cat Dragged In", from the album of the same name. It was their first big album. Another band that has a harder than the norm song is Warrant, their song "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Both are awesome, but rarely get reviewed as they were deeper cuts. Check them out if you never have. GO TO THAT CONCERT, you'll have "Nothing But a Good Time"! Another Poison song btw.

While Poison was the essence of the 80s decade of Decadence, this song also hit the charts in both the country and rock charts. Other hairbands like GnR didn't like Poison much, they were huge. The 80s were a great time to be alive and I'm privileged to be witness to a great decade of music!
