They wrote this song about the guitar player, he would always have sex with anything, and they caught him doing the bop with a big woman, and what happened is they walked in on a naked woman and didnt see anyone, then CC popped his head out from under the lady, said hey guys, and the rest is history.

That’s actually not true. When cc wrote the song he used the phrase unskinny bop as a place holder for lyrics that Bret would write in put in place in the chorus. They ended up never replacing it. Cc has said it literally was just a nonsensical placeholder in that measure of the chorus.

This band didn't get the respect they deserved back in the day. I remember getting Look What the Cat Dragged in with one of those "get 5 cds for $5 deals. I wasn't expecting much, I got it as more of a gag and then ended up playing the album to death. 😉

According to guitarist CC, the "unskinny bop" meant absolutely nothing. It was originally just a placeholder of lyrics while they wrote the rest of the song - then just left it in. now in the urban dictionary it's referred to doing the vertical shuffle with someone with some extra love handles on them.

In an interview the band explained this song.. It was about a girl that the guitarists hooked up with that wasnt the normal skinny girl he went for and how much of a sex addict she turned out to be.. It was an inside joke they made into a song..

this song doesnt really have a meanin. poison were doing the music for it and there was a hot girl in the room. bret wanted to get her attention, if you know wat i mean, so he started singing sexual lyrics which later became unskinny bop. The title "Unskinny Bop" has no particular meaning, which guitarist C.C Deville later confessed. The phrase was used on the basis that it was phonetically suited to the music. The song was later played to producer, Fairbairn, who stated that although he did not know what an "unskinny bop" was, the phrase was perfect. I hope this helps you understand how this great song came to be perfection......

Sorry, whole some of the songs may be "OK" at best......this is what ruined metal in the 80's. These bands looked more like girls, had silly little songs. I love your channel, but please don't do anymore Poison......they should be banned from anything called Metal.....whether it be called Hair Metal, Heavy Metal or whatever. Sorry not a fan.
