This song is especially powerful because Freddie was dying at this point, he was suffering from AIDS for 4 years prior and his body was still deteriorating, and died, I believe, less than a year after recording this, but he still put his all into the performance, even though he could barely stand the day of recording it, he was warned by Brian May that it might be too hard of a vocal track, but Freddie downed a shot of vodka and sang with all his might in one take what you hear in the song, he destroyed his vocal chords but he didnt care, he just wanted to make sure the show goes on and he really put all of his effort into it, he is easily one of the bravest people ever, he didn't give a shit that he was dying, he was still pushing his body to the limit up until he was bed ridden. A really touching and emotional song is the last song he ever recorded, Mother Love, that is the last time he recorded his voice, but halfway through, he was getting tired, so he said he'll continue the track in a few days, but he never came back. He died before he could finish the song, so in the song, after the guitar solo, the lead vocals change, and it's Brian May, their guitarist, because Freddie had died at the point and the rest of Queen wanted to finish the song, even though they waited 4 years after Freddie's death to record it because of how traumatic his death was to them, he was their best-friend and band mate for over 20 years, and then he's just gone, which really took a toll on them emotionally amd mentally. But after a few years, they built up the will power to finish recording the song and it sends shivers down my spine every time i hear it because of the back story, and towards the end of the song, you hear a ghostly "Mother love, Mother love" echo away, and its Freddie's voice, and its so chilling because he's dead at that point. And the end of the song , I believe, is a very small section of every Queen song from the end of their career to the beginning, and at the very end, it fades into the first song Freddie ever recorded. It's crazy, the last song he ever sang on, ends with the first song he ever sang on.

I am a 45 y/o huge Queen fan, and I LOVE watching you discover their music! I think this song resonates so much because the entire album, Innuendo, when Freddie was so ill from AIDS, and he knew it and his bandmates did too. If you listen to and watch the videos for this, I'm Going Slightly Mad, and These Are The Days Of Our Lives, you can not only see his frailty but his amazing showmanship and how he pushed through right up until the end of his life including that AMAZING voice! These Are The Days Of Our Lives is especially heartbreaking, but so incredibly beautiful and I would love to see you listen/watch the video for it.

@@amandab5941 I think he just really wanted to do it so he would have something to do, a reason to get out of bed in the morning because his body was becoming so weak. He really wanted to keep working for as long as he could. If you watch the video, he doesn't move around hardly at all and it's because he had a lesion on the ball of his foot. If you watch the behind-the-scenes footage of the making of that video, he limps really bad.

Innuendo is a special album (the last album where Freddie was still alive) and one of their best, even if it is hard to pick one over the other. As much as i like Show Must Go On, my favorite on the album is These Are The Days Of Our Lives, another bittersweet song that just grew and grew on me. You might not get same powerful reaction to it as Show Must Go On initially, but it's definitely one of the very best Queen songs IMO. Innuendo, the song (the last 4 Queen Albums had the same name as one of the tracks, 5 if you include Flash), is kind of like a 90s version of Bohemian Rhapsody, with epic features and multiple transitions. Definitely an experience.

Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990 that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal."

I remember that time, I was a teenager and a total Queen-Fan. Freddie’s voice is unique. I cried my eyes so out over days. I could not stop imagining how sick he must have been his last days, and how he must have felt. This is definitely one of the best, like also „time“, „motherlove“ and „how can I go on“.

This whole album is amazing. He's dying, but he's not letting it drag him down; he doesn't have time to regret, and he's basically saying don't you dare let this stop you either. Cheering you on from his deathbed. Such a... well, a Freddie Mercury move,

You are so right, every song is different and Freddie was the GREATEST!! Even with his health deteriorating he gave it his all!! I take this song as if he is telling his band and his fans, even with me not being here you must go on!! And that in itself gives me goosebumps!! Long live the memory of Freddie!!! ❤❤❤❤

Freddie was a TRUE artist. Like I’ve said before. Today’s artists (not all) are so interested in followers on Instagram, but would they tell bandmates to keep writing them songs to sing while they were dying? He told them to “release songs as long as you can after I’m gone.” He lost his vision, part of his foot... he was skeletal, and died not long after this was done. I hate being a downer but that’s not it. Like everyone else is saying, it’s amazing that he laid these vocals after downing some vodka, even though his throat was shot, and the guys doubted he could do it. He showed them, darling! I love this Queen trip you’re on. If you don’t do a review of the movie, I’m gonna be mad at you. Lol, jk.

Because yes, Queen is simply and undisputedly amazing. And to see your reactions, it just kept making me smile, and I just kept thinking, yep, they are awesome aren't they!

Joey, thank you for making all of us appreciate Queen's music that much further, I've seen pretty much all of your reaction vids to Queen and I have to say that you nail it. Your genuine reactions show that you are a lover of music no matter where its from or who its from. You entertain me and amaze me at the same time. Its no secret that Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest singers of all time. I'll never forget stealing (way back) my older brothers News of the World Album and having nightmares for weeks because of it (that cover!) but We will Rock You/ We are the Champions sewed my love of Queen. Thanks Joey!

Yeah Joey, I don’t know if you know this-But Freddie was dying, he could barely sing and record for but a few hours at a time at this point. Hence no live performances of this song. He told hid friends in Queen to just keep writing music for him, and he would keep singing. He was a hero, faced death fearless. Freddie Mercury 1946-1991. He would’ve been 72 this past Wednesday September 5th, 2018 All these lyrics are about him facing death and that Queen must go on

As others have told you, Freddie was literally dying by the time this was recorded. Brian May was afraid he couldn't do it. He slammed back some vodka and did it all in one take. Watching the video, and with that context, it's so much more emotional. It's basically him giving a giant middle finger to AIDS and death.

That song always helps me pick myself up when I feel crushed and depressed, it remainds me that even of I feel like I want to disappear from existence, I can't just give up on my life and throw everything away, Look at Freddie, he was singing this song with all he had even though he was dying. This is my anthem. It's a constant reminder that no matter how hard life get, it isn't as bad as Freddie's was when he recorded this. He topped the Bill, he overkilled. He found the will to carry on and so must I. So I put on a smile and push through.

My God, he really was singing his heart out because he knew he was dying but the show really must go on. It's brutal and beautiful and it just breaks my heart. I love it so much. Queen is, was, and always will be my favorite. We didn't deserve Freddie Mercury, but I'm so glad we had him, even just for a while.

It's wonderful seeing someone new appreciating the genius and legend that was Freddie Mercury. I don't know if you have been told but Freddie's vocal range was 4 octaves which is just insane but also his imagination which created these masterpieces with Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. He was the ultimate showman on stage but a kind, warm and gentle soul off, it still breaks my heart that he is no longer around 😢😢
