I love that you're enjoying Queen so much. The thing is, the more you find out about them, the better (and sometimes more heartbreaking) they become. They used this song in Highlander, but they also wrote it after they found out Freddie didn't have much longer. And losing that voice is still a colossal tragedy to me. Loving these, btw. It's so cool watching someone discover these for the first time.

Queen were approached to do a song for Highlander. After seeing some footage they asked if they could write a song each. Then asked if they could do all the music for the film. The producers were delighted as they couldn’t have afforded to hire the band to write it all. End result was an awesome soundtrack that has some standout singles. The one track not on the Queen album that is a cover of New York, New York. They may have only recorded a few bars but Freddie didn’t sing it like Sinatra. He went at it at full volume. I’d love to know if there’s a full recording in existence in a vault somewhere.

Joey, it's impossible to choose the best Queen track.. I've got every album, single and their individual work, seen them live 4 times, from early at the marquee in London, Berlin, live aid, Brazil, and I couldn't pick a favorite if my life depended on it.. Their huge breadth of work is truly astounding.. There hasn't been another band remotely like them, and I doubt there ever will be.. React to "The Prophet Song" or "Now I'm Here".. Freddie'S birthday today.. He would have been 72😢 He may not be here in body, but he lives on with us all..

Wow, that cover is amazing, I knew Marc Martel can sing lots of Freddie's song nearly as well as Freddie himself, but that is the first time I head him sing Who Wants to Live Forever. It often takes multiple singers to pull off Freddie's parts in this song, and very few get the When Love Must Die part right, and even Marc was a bit off there, but otherwise it was perfect. Until this I best version I heard was from Joseph Clark, but Marc crushed it. I swear I was listening to Freddie on a few places in the song.

Watching you react to this song, especially it being the first time you've heard it, you probably realize what long time Queen fans (myself included) have known since their first album. And that is how Queen's music can touch you down into the deepest depths of our soul. Also some of their song titles beginning in the mid to late 80s seem to be written with the knowledge that Freddie was dying of AIDS, which is heart breaking by itself. The genius of Freddie Mercury in the song Bohemian Rhapsody and many others make their music timeless.

Ok, so, there isn't a specific song that I can say you should listen to but I'll give you a few to consider. March of the Black from Queen II Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To...) from A Night At The Opera Radio GaGa from The Works I Want To Break Free from The Works Stone Cold Crazy from Sheer Heart Attack Keep Yourself Alive from Queen Innuendo from Innuendo The Show Must Go On from Innuendo These Are The Days Of Our Lives from Innuendo

And this is why Queen found it so hard to get a substitute vocalist to sing with them. Almost no one can match Freddie's range. Not to mention keeping it up throughout a 2 hour concert. They have to modulate down. Only their current guest singer, Adam Lambert, can do it.

I've been a huge fan from the beginning. I have had the opportunity and privilege to see Queen live 26 times, every US tour. To get the feeling of being at a Queen show check out the following DVD's: Live at the Rainbow, Night at the Odeon, Rocks Montreal, Wembley, Live at the Bowl. Enjoy, you won't be disappointed. Glad to have you on board as a Queen fan.

I'm not sure this was an queen song. I think this is was one of Freddie own. That now has ended up on the Queen classical albums. Cis he left the rights to his old and only proper girlfriend. (mary Ashley, or somthing kiel that.) Edit, I just looked it up, this was 86.

I was always a fan of Queen but watching someone listen to his songs for the first time reminds me of what I must have looked like when I first heard them. Now knowing that back story to this song ESPECIALLY brought tears to my eyes. Next to The Show Must Go On, this is a powerful song. He knew he was at deaths door but being the showman that he was felt compelled to send us this message. Joey, it’s been a privilege watching your videos and watching you become a fan of this AMAZING band.
