Brian May is the big hair guy who started out on the keys in this performance, usually on lead guitar and moves to lead guitar in this performance after the keys ar no longer needed. He wrote this song for the Queen soundtrack for the movie Highlander. I love this beautiful song, thank you for your reaction. Wrist band is for sweat but more for keeping it off his hand so he can hold the mic when he is sweating. Freddie usually uses a towel when he wipes his face because he sweats far more than a wrist band is going to handle. All members of Queen are multi instrumentalists.

This song always makes my heart hurt. The one and only time I saw Queen in concert was Montreal, Nov 24, 1981, for my 24th B-day. Sadly, Freddie passed on the same date, ten years later. Nov 24, 1991. Ever since then I light a candle for him on my birthday, say a little prayer, and play this song. Wasn't he wonderful? I warms my heart to see so many younger people discovering Queen. They were definitely a one of kind band, all so talented, and then to have Freddie as the front man. Not many can compare, can they?

@@josephinemonahan915 You seems to be a little confused. You're talking to life long fans of Queen. Neither of us said we cry because this song is ABOUT Freddie. We know it was for the movie where the hero outlives everyone he loves. The song is beautiful. The pain we still feel at the loss of Freddie is still real too but this song is not the one and only reason one can cry or hurt when thinking of Freddie's death. No "homework" needed.

This was near the end of touring for Queen, I think they did one or two more after this.. but Freddie was beginning to feel the drain of his illness and knew he couldn’t do justice for fans as they had always been able to do. They continued to record music up until Freddie’s death in 1991, but touring became too much. There are really great videos of early Queen (in the 70s), and even more of them into the mid-80s. Their live performances were perfection, and almost always better than the studio version. And, as others have mentioned.. that was Brian on keys at the beginning, he was holding his guitar on his lap so he could quickly move to his solo from the keys. All 4 band members were multi-instrumentalists; all 4 wrote #1 hits (all are in the songwriters hall of fame), and they are the only rock band to do so. Thanks for your reaction to this beauty by Freddie!!

I can't listen to this song or "Streets of Phillidelphia" without crying, so I gave it a like because I know you're going to feel it. I thought you should know that Freddie was nearing the end of his battle with HIV - leading to A.I.D.S. - when he wrote this beautiful ballad. Fact: Aquired ImmunoDificiency Syndrome was first discovered in the mid 1880s. I'm 63, I contracted HIV when I was 25 and, "my clothes don't fit me anymore...". Love who you want, it's none of my business, until you make it mine. Stop it!

Well - it IS Brian May - and he wrote the song. All 4 members of Queen are multi instrumentalists - and songwritersThis is one of Freddies last 3 concerts - after this they only made albums. - and videos -. This song was written for the movie Highlander - Queen made the soundtrack.Queen had an extra member in the shadows - spike Edney - the "5'th member of Queen" - who took over the keyboards to make it possible for Freddie to perform in front of the stage and interact with the crowd. Their clothing are designed - it is costumes -.His voice is not on its high - - he took the lower notes and Roger - the drummer - sang the high notes - as always - but he covered when Freddie had a bad day. These days you can still go to a Queen concert - Roger and Brian went on - with new frontmen - the last 12 years with Adam Lambert. They tour North America this fall - and still totally sold out venues. You should listen to this song - the version from 2016 - on Isle of Wight - the day after a mass shooting in a gay-club. I've never heard it sung like that - said Roger - and Brian made comments about standing next to Adam while he went away up into the stratosphere - musically. Go on reacting to Queen - and the subscribers will blow your mind.

BTW re Freddie's wristbands (SORRY so many comments!) ...That was just the style back then, but I've also wondered if they had a practical purpose when Freddie was performing. Love love loving your reactions. I have been a Queen fan for over 35 years after first hearing them live at Live Aid in 1985 when I was 16 years old., I am now 54 years old!!! I was at this concert (Saturday night one) and when they did this song you could hear a pin drop amongst the 72,000 of us. I saw them again at Knebworth in August 1986 when there were 150,000 of us and Queen flew in by Helicopters above us. Here are some other ones that you MUST do :- Dragon Attack/Now I'm Here Reprisal [this is the best one ... not just the Dragon Attack one] - Live Montreal 1981 Bohemian Rhapsody - Live Montreal 1981 Save Me - Live Montreal 1981 Love of My Life - Live Montreal 1981 Killer Queen - Live at Montreal 1981 Live Aid 1985 [full 20 minute set - please choose right one as the one that seems to be going around has the ending cut off from it best to choose the one with the two Policemen at the start] One Vision - Live Wembley 1986 Tie Your Mother Down/In the Lap of the Gods/Tear It Up medley - Live at Wembley 1986 Another One Bites the Dust - Live Wembley 1986 Under Pressure - Live Wembley 1986 [Freddie's call and response is phenomenal] We are the Champions - Live at Wembley 1986 [and the ending of the concert] One Vision Documentary [the 20 minute one as there is a shorter version on the Net but it is nowhere near as good as the longer one] - it shows the band creating the song One Vision Please please please do some of the above, you will be absolutely BLOWN away by all of the band's talents. BTW Brian is the one you said it wasn't in this reaction, he is the one with all the glorious curly hair, which he still has to this day but obviously it's now grey as he is now over 70 years of age, although still performing with the drummer Roger Taylor and they have their singer, Adam Lambert. Sadly, John Deacon the bassist couldn't carry on as he was emotionally devastated when Freddie died and called it a day. He did however perform a few times after Freddie's death, especially at the tribute concert in 1992. Stay safe from Manchester UK

OMG, how did I get so LUCKY!?!?!? This is my FAVORITE performance of this song... THANK YOU, SOOOO MUCH. There are three live performances of this song available on video... this rendition often "flies under the radar", but it's sooo... PASSIONATE. Just an FYI... There are actually TWO 1986 Wembley concerts: Friday, July 11 & Saturday, July 12. Generally speaking, the most-viewed Wembley performances are from the Saturday show (I think mainly because - back when a live-in-concert Wembley video was originally produced for resale - it was the Saturday concert used for the video. Since then, I think they've added the Friday concert to the DVD as well.) But, there are folks (like myself) who prefer the lesser-known Friday concert, because Freddie was "fresher". (He was actually coming down with a cold on the second night.) So for instance, this song you just reacted to was from the Friday, July 11 show... that's why I was SO excited!
