Rammstein is probably the best live band there is. The production on their last tour was INSANE. I've never ever seen anything like it. When Rammstein is doing a show (in Europe at least, some stuff they aren't allowed to pull off in the US because of safety restrictions. EDIT: As ryan pervola states below, this thankfully isn't the case anymore!) - the airspace around the location is closed, no planes are allowed in due to the intensity of the lightshow (I'm not kidding). I wouldn't be surprised if it could be seen from space. - the vibrations caused by the speakers can still be picked up 20 km away .When you're actually there you feel your inner organs shaking, lol - the local fire departments are already used to getting hundreds of calls from worried citizens who think the stadium is on fire (again, not kidding XD) Anyways, I think "Ich tu dir weh" or "Benzin" from Madison Square Garden would begreat picks for your next reaction:D

The effects you see on european tours are the exact same ones they do here. The current stadium tour (when it happens) will be the exact same production that was overseas last year. Since touring in the United States again in 2010 all shows and concerts here have been exactly the same production scale and size. Some more background "Hast" (have) sounds phonetically like "haßt" (hate) So the beginning "du, du hast, du hast mich" (you, you have, you have me) for a german speaker sounds (and only makes sense) as "du, du haßt, du haßt mich" (you, you hate, you hate me)

@@icytonicy & @Hoopsick Reacts Right ... BUT the Complete Sentence " Du hast mich gefragt " means You asked me . You see 1 word more makes a Huge Difference . From Du ... you Du hast ..... you have / got Du hast mich..... You have / got me To complete Sentence Du hast mich gefragt ..... You asked me btw , i Agree with Hate BUT in German Hate gets Written .... Hass with double s . So the 3 Words " Du hast mich " could mean You hate me BUT the last Word.... gefragt.... which means Asked, makes sure that it´s called You asked me . So the Meaning is now clear . I know it´s Difficult but at the end it´s Logical.

the lead singer, Till Lindemann, is an actual Pyrotechnician....so we can only imagine that every live show is freaking amazing!! its a rare bird to have a band thats even better live, as opposed to having a professionally produced album in a studio... you should def check out "ich will", "mein herz brennt", "sonne".....just to request a few...

You've mentioned the lyrics of Rammstein. They sound kind of simple if you aren't german, but they often use double entendres and even triple meanings: they repeat a lot of words but it gets another meaning by using a different pronunciation or by adding new words. In this song they start with "Du" (you) and then they change the meaning with every word: "Du hast" (you have) , "Du hast mich" (you have me - but it sounds like "Du hasst mich" - you hate me), "Du hast mich gefragt" (you've asked me). It's about a guy shortly before the wedding vow that has mixed feelings about it and says "no" because he's not sure about her intentions. They also use it in other parts of the song and because you can only write down one version in the lyrics you'll often hear something that's not even written down. For example they sind "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheide" (Will you until death do u part) and then kind of repeat it as "Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheidet" (Will you until the death parts you) but most (if not all) people hear "Willst Du bis zum Tod der Scheide" (you have to use a translator because my comment would be blocked if I write that in english), which also makes sense in this context. So they might read as simple, but the aren't. And of course you are right with the stage show. It's very difficult for them to perform at a festival because they need months of preparation (because they want to give the people a perfect show). Some of their live shows are shocking but you have to keep in mind that it's never just the obvious part. There are only a few songs that don't use double entendres and/or hidden other meanings. Even a kind of simple song like "Feuer frei" (open fire) isn't just about the use of gun but also can be understood as a song about love.

Never heard a song by them, I've heard of them plenty like mentioned in the video. I'm an American metal head. This isn't exactly in that category so I've just never seen them mentioned in the circles of music I listen too, so I had no reason the check them out. Now I have this channel and when a lot of people request things I haven't heard I go check it out. This song is hype 👍

@@Hoopsick They are quite popular in the US though. They do a lot of touring there. Check out some of their sold out live performances from madison square garden (I recommend "Rammlied", "Engel, "Ich tu dir weh"). They also performed on Jimmy Kimmel once. I think their last album was top ten in the US. They were on a lot of movie soundtracks. Director David Lynch is a big fan, put them on soundtracks in the 90ies, that was their breakthrough overseas. They even won grammys and toured together with Korn, Limp Bizkit and Ice Cube 22 years ago in the US. (family values tour)

@@Hoopsick Don't overestimate the term "Dance Metal". They described their music once as "metal with danceable techno beats and synths". Suddenly there was the term "Dance Metal". Basicly it's just industrial metal.

The correct sub-genre is „Industrial“ in an international understanding and „Neue Deutsche Härte“ in German, a jeu de mots regarding the „Neue Deutsche Welle“ of the 80‘s. Most prominent singer of the latter is Nena (99 red balloons).

The full concert is of course online. The documentary Rammstein in the USA compares their first tour of the USA in 2001 with their tour and concert at madison square gardens much later back in 2017. No lie tickets sold out in minutes flat. Compared to their early days playing in a small club, unknown mostly on these shores.

Ok - i think i can help out with some translations - NDH means "Neue Deutsche Härte" in german - so in english it´s NGH " New German Hardness" - what is used to describe this type of music. And the song text "Du hast" means not you have but "you hate" in english. Anyway Rammstein is great at live shows and they have always special pyro effects - espescially designed by themselsves !

Yes, it plays on words. "Du hast" in German means "you have", and "du hasst" (double s) means "you hate". He repeatedly sings "du has(s)t mich", which can be understood as "you hate me". Then he completes the sentence and sings "du has(s)t mich gefragt", which can be translated as "you have asked me". He then continues, and sings something like "you have asked me ... if I want to marry you until death do us part....". And then you hear the sonorous "NO!!!" :-) Most of their lyrics are very interesting; the singer actually has also publishes a couple of books with peoms/lyrics.

"Du hast" has a double meaning. "Du hast" means "You have", but "du hasst" (which has the same pronunciation) means "you hate". You You have/hate You have/hate me You have (hate doesn't fit here) asked me You have asked me You have asked me but I did not say anything (the rest of the lyrics are basically about this two phrases:) Will you - till death do us part - being faithful for the rest of your days? (female background) Yes NO! Will you - till the death, which parts/separatesm - love her also in bad times? (female background) Yes NO!

The song is what you are asked at the wedding altar will stay faithful till death due us part. That is what the Du Hast is building up to where he sings Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt. (You asked me and I said nothing) Willst du bist der Tod enscheidet? Treue sein für alle Tage? And then in the song he sings Nein (No). Simple but awesome for the crowd to sing with!!

Haven't even seen the reaction yet but yes... Yes he's on a treadmill. Ps: okay seen it now. Well there is a strong double meaning to the lyrics. Du hast translates to you have, but when he says du hast mich it means you have me which also sounds like du hasst mich (with two s) which would translate as you hate me. Then it goes to du hast mich gefragt which is you've asked me and he talks about how he's been proposed to and so on. So it's an evolving thing with this song as is with a lot of rammstein lyrics.

Welcome to the Rammstein world. By the way, they're one of the most famous world bands, gathering stadiums with 70-80 thousand people. And they've been world stars for 20 years already. They came to the US, played in Madison Square Garden and still so many Americans don't even know about their existence) Du hast is their most famous song which was a number one hit in the late 90's. You may check any other video (both live or music video) and all of them were made with German quality, the production level is insane. You could check "Deutschland" music video, and even though your reaction may be blocked for copyright reason, it doesn't matter - this is a real masterpiece and probably the best music video in the history.
