This song went to number one for a while in 1976. It was played on the radio constantly. There is another hilarious song that unexpectedly became a huge hit called "Valley Girl" by Frank Zappa which was released in 1982. Would love to see you two react to it, I think you'll both fall off your chairs laughing out loud!

I have a very specific memory attached to this song. In November, 1976, me, my sister and a bunch of our friends headed to the local Pizza Hut after a high school football game. Our team had come from behind to win and we were feeling especially rowdy. When we got there, the place was packed, mostly with other people who had also come from the same football game. It took almost a half hour to get a table and get our order placed, but once we did, my twin sister (God rest her soul), put some money in the jukebox and chose a few songs, one of which was "Disco Duck". Now, this is a horrendous song, but people kept daring her to play it again, so she did. They would give her the money and then she would go select it again. After 17 times, the manager came out and unplugged the jukebox. True story. Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots had numerous novelty hits back in the 70's. But this one was the big one.

Asia saying to BJ - don't come over to me flapping around on the dance floor & expecting me to dance with you (or something like that) SECONDS later - Asia & BJ BOTH flapping their arms around to the song. It was GREAT! - & I loved how this had you happy, loose & LAUGHING! Not a bad way to go on with your day - but BJ is one to be careful of (I bet you have your hands full with his character!) as he is "quite the talker" isn't he? - trying to convince you of things - rascally boy! 😄

Blast from the past."Disco Duck" became a nationwide hit in the United States by September 1976. On the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, it peaked at number one on October 16, 1976, for one week, held the number-two spot for the following four weeks and remained in the Top 10 for a total of 10 weeks. The single sold over 4 million copies and won a People's Choice Award. It ranked #97 out of the 100 most popular songs of the year according to Billboard magazine. A misconception about "Disco Duck" is that the voice of the duck was provided by Clarence Nash, the original voice of Donald Duck in many Walt Disney cartoons, but on several occasions the Disney Company maintained that Nash never contributed to the record. The voice of the duck was performed by Ken Pruitt, an acquaintance of Dees, as stated on the label of the RSO release.Written by Dees, "Disco Duck" was inspired by a 1960s novelty dance song called "The Duck", recorded by Jackie Lee (Earl Lee Nelson) in 1965. According to Dees, it took one day to write the song, but three months to convince anyone to perform it

I have been waiting for somebody to finally react to this song! I keep checking back & I am glad that this time I was able to find you two reacting here. (I guess I haven't searched in a while.) I would give you 2 thumbs up for your duck chair dancing if I could - (or more). This was what the song was for - just letting loose & acting a bit silly on purpose! (I don't really think that your generation, or any of the others near you really understands the concept of just letting loose (in a non-violent), silly manner & HAVING FUN! You might have felt silly doing this dancing but you were both laughing & smiling with it & I bet your mood was just completely elevated after - even if you were already in a good mood! Back in the day everybody loved this song because it WAS fun & silly & nobody could help but smile &/or laugh to it - sing along (& if possible) even dance a little to it. There is NOTHING WRONG AT ALL with music whose only purpose is to make you feel good.
