Rick Springfield was huge in the `80s...singer, Soap Opera TV star on General Hospital, made one movie "Hard To Hold". A really good musician...great guitarist & piano player. Another hit was "Don`t Talk To Strangers" & "Human Touch"...and a really nice song he wrote after his father passed "My Father`s Chair". Also, you really should watch the video of the actual performers. You are missing out when you just watch the words scroll by.

I wasn’t a Rick Springfield fan back in the day mostly because he was a heartthrob for all the teenage girls. Every girl had his poster on the wall including my gf. I thought I was too cool for that. However, as I got older and revisited his music I discovered what a great guitarist and songwriter he was. It also didn’t hurt that his biggest hit, “I’ve done everything for you” was a Sammy Hagar cover

Back in the day Rick Springfield was my favorite, ok, he still is! 😂 I was able to see him in concert in 1984 when I was 15, 4th row from the stage (be still my teenage heart 🥰😂) I’ve seen him several times as an adult. Speak to the Sky was his first American hit. ( After Zoot. The band he played guitar for. Broke up ) In the early 70s. As a child of that era. I personally watched his Sat morning cartoon. Jessie's Girl is kind of a guilty pleasure for me as an 80s teenager & it's the only one you'll typically hear on the radio, usually on a vintage station or during "Greatest Hits" countdowns. But he's got plenty of good music that deserves more attention. Affair of the Heart & Human Touch are two of my favorites. And yes...eye candy. I had no use for soap operas normally, but Dr Noah Drake was swoon worthy. 😍

When I was 16, I wished I was Rick's girl. I saw him in concert my senior year of high school and during the song "Affair of the Heart " he jumped on a huge speaker, grabbed my hand, and sang "Don't try to tell me it's physical. It goes much deeper than that." Pretty sure I tried not to wash my hand for a week. Looking back, it was a really creepy thing to sing to a 16 year old!

He played Dr. Noah Drake in General Hospital and Nick Knight a Vampire who is a police detective looking for a pair of magic goblets that can make him human again. But he got his start as a cartoon version of himself in a spin off from The Brady Kids called “Mission: Magic!” Where a magical school teacher takes an after school group called The Adventurers Club on wild and wacky adventures in other worlds beyond the blackboard with Springfield singing a tune related to the theme at some point in the adventure while helping Miss Tickle and the kids solve some problem or crime with the help of a magic cat and an owl.

It is crazy that hardly anyone talks about the fact that he's Australian and its obvious, as he's still got his accent. I also wonder how many of his army of female fans have gone back to research the bands he was in back in Australia. I can't believe how good the rock version of the Beatles song Eleanor Rigby is that his band Zoot made back in the 70's when he was younger and just playing lead guitar.
