Oh my, the late Bobby Hatfield singing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I'm 76 years old, and I never get tired of listening to him sing this song. You need to check out their other hits. You're my Soul and Inspiration. They had great voices together. I play their greatest hits CD in my car. RIP Bobby ❤❤❤

You really, really need to hear him do "Summertime"! Also, songs with the two of them for great listening are "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" and "You'll Never Walk Alone"; and, for that matter, anything they do is great.

If you liked this one, definitely check out You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling and (You’re My) Soul and Inspiration. Two great songs by the Righteous Brothers (yes they are two of them)

This song was written for the 1955 movie " Unchained". In 1965 Bobby Hatfield changed it up a little. He made it his song. Every artist has used his version since. You need to listen to more of his solos. Here are a few: Summertime - live performance 1965 My Prayer - live performance Ebb Tide

Thanks, guy.. Bobby was amazing.. this is what was called "blue-eyed soul" back then.. he looked like a ken doll, right? but what incredible vocal talent.. no straining or screaming.. just hittin' those notes, with amazing breath control... and, being a live performance, story is that he was nervous b/c he MOM was in the audience (this was a very popular show at the time).. nevertheless, I'm sure his Mom was proud... thanks for your listen & reaction!

This song was originally sung by a black actor in the 1955 movie “UNCHAINED”.

It was sung by Todd Duncan the first black man to sing with a major opera company, (New York City Opera Company). He started his career in the 1930s. He sang in opera companies and as a soloist accompanied by a pianist. He also performed internationally. Duncan also taught voice at Howard University for many years before opening his own voice studio. He was no mere actor.

Bobby slayed this song cause the man that sang it for the 1955 movie sounded terrible to me.
@Aurora-tp3dy2 күн бұрын
In the movie it was sung as a sad lament among prisoners. It wasn't supposed to be a "let me blow this out of the water" moment. The singer, Todd Duncan, had more talent than you are apparently aware of. (There were a number of singers who recorded and had hits with it between Mr. Duncan and Bobby Hatfield.)
