The song was written for a prison movie called "UNchained" in 1955, sung by a black opera singer named Todd Duncan - the clip is on KZbin. Roy Hamilton and Sam Cooke, two black singers, released it in 1955 (also on KZbin). But this version was the one that knocked it out of the park. Since then, it's been sung by hundreds of singers. None have sung it as well as Bobby.

Bobby had a rare voice called a countertenor. It's the equivalent of a high soprano. He had a 4.5 to 5 octave range.

If you haven’t reacted to You’ve lost that loving feeling, please do. Both Bill Medley and the late Bobby Hatfield sing that one together. Before they did any TV performances, many thought they were Black. They got booked at the renown Apollo Theatre (usually an all black venue). Imagine the shocked reaction of the crowd when they walked out, but they soon won them over!

It is a solo because Bill thought it was going to be a flop. Bob never let Bill forget how popular this song was and still is. The song has been performed by many artists over the years and used in a lot of movies. I LOVE to watch people born after the 80's because this was before autotune and huge mixing systems. Real raw talent that hit deep into the soul❤❤❤

@Lynn Hoffman - 1) You TELL/demand/command "You have to" Ok Sceez to HEAR anything I want you to hear. Who the hell are you? Compounded by 2) You believe the Internet - 'cuz, the internet is nothing but truth, although I read anonymous texts/posts/comments (call them what you want; same/same) and believe everything they say'. You talk out of your ass while demanding people listen to you. Good job you did, explaining how the term "Blue eyed soul" came to be.

You just heard the “Most Played “ song of the 20th Century. (Guinness World Récords). Live, No Autotune, No Dancing Girls, No Pyrotechnics, just a Man with his Mic and a Sh*tload of talent, Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers. You miss the intro, they’re on the Andy Williams Show and he asked them to do this song and Bill Medley ( the other brother) says that Bobby does that one by himself, so he does. Check out their “Soul & Inspiration”, Fire!….. SanJoséBob

When The Righteous Brothers would record an album, each of them would sing one song sung solo. Both of them wanted to sing “Unchained Melody”, so they flipped a coin to decide the matter. Bobby Hatfield won the coin toss.

This is from the Andy Williams TV show. There's another video out there that has Andy Williams and both Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield chatting & joking with Andy after they had finished a song. It gives an insight to how the Righteous Brothers got their name & that Bobby is singing this song by himself. Actually Bobby sang this song even before the Righteous Brothers got together so he was the perfect choice to record the B side of their other new song "Hung On You" they wanted to promote. A DJ flipped the record over and listened to "Unchained Melody" and the B side took off and soared again. 25 years later after the movie "Ghost" featured it in the pottery scene, they rerecorded it as they didn't own the rights to the 1st recording. Bobby sang his live version somewhat different than the record and getting over a cold & a case of nerves he still did one of the best live performances ever done on T.V.

Clicked the like button before you hit play! His name is Bobby Hatfield. This was a solo performance. Bobby was a natural counter- tenor. The other "brother" was Bill Medley. He's still alive. Bobby is not. Bill is a bass- baritone. They were not related. Their voices blended perfectly together. "You're My Soul And My Heart's Inspiration" by The Righteous Brothers. Cannot go wrong with that one 👍 LOVED your reaction 💙👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹 Thank you so much! Peace & blessings to you & yours 💕

This song/video is only sung by Bobby Hatfield. The other guy is Bill Medley a tenor (deep voice). If you want to hear them both sing, react to You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling. Other songs by them: Soul and Inspiration and Little Latin Lupe Lu
@Aurora-tp3dy2 жыл бұрын
Some corrections: A tenor isn't a deep voice. Bobby was a countertenor, a range higher than a tenor. Bill was a bass-baritone. Bill, not Bobby, wrote that song and used the name (Lupe) of a girl he knew. He said it really wasn't about her, but it just fit. Just an aside, high school for them was the 1950s.

Bobby Hatfield: KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Righteous Brothers singer Bobby Hatfield's death in November was caused by cocaine and not just heart failure, according to the official autopsy report. Dr. Richard Tooker, chief medical examiner for Kalamazoo County, told the Kalamazoo Gazette in Tuesday's editions that Hatfield's death was triggered by acute cocaine intoxication. Hatfield, 63, died Nov. 5 just hours before a Righteous Brothers concert. He and his partner, Bill Medley, had hits like Unchained Melody, and You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. "This is a shock to me," Medley told The Orange County (Calif.) Register from his Newport Beach, Calif., home. "I never saw him (use cocaine). I knew absolutely nothing about it. If I had known, I would have said something to him." An initial autopsy found Hatfield had advanced coronary disease. A heart attack due to the disease was listed on Hatfield's death certificate. However, Tooker said a final cause of death was not determined until after toxicology reports were completed. The death certificate will be changed to reflect cocaine as the cause of death, he said. Tooker's office received the report of cocaine intoxication on Dec. 24, but he asked for the information to be released after the holidays out of respect to Hatfield's family. Messages left Tuesday with Tooker and the William Morris Agency, which represents the Righteous Brothers, were not returned.
