bobby hatfield is a counter-tenor which means high notes come natural for bobby so they high and clear and not forced sounding like a falsetto

I've watched dozens of first time reactions to this performance, and you're the first one to mention Bobby Hatfield looking so cool (3:07) sitting there like a statue, like the cover of GQ magazine. Cary Grant famously said, "Everyone wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant." Well, when I look at Bobby, I want to be Bobby Hatfield. He looks cool enough to be the next James Bond. These two had such a stage presence, they had every movement to perfection -- every gesture, every blink -- on top of having perfect vocals in their *live* performances!

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on a piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

I remember so well when they first started being played on the radio stations. We did not actually see them until later when they did television shows and concert halls. Before they were widely seen, most of us thought they must be black. It was amazing. Their sound was soon referred to as "Blue Eyed Soul". I just found your channel and your reactions were great. Your reactions were excellent and captured the true quality of the Rightous Brothers. I am pleased to be a new subscriber.

As someone who is old enough to remember the Righteous Brothers from my teen years, I love that you like them. But, damn . . . every time the song started to really build to something cool . . . you broke in. Especially that amazing back and forth . . . call and response . . . section near the end. Hearing it all in one piece is INCREDIBLE . . . but you just couldn't stop yourself from breaking into it . . . more than once. Again, I'm happy you liked it, but I found myself yelling at you because you couldn't wait till times in between the verses or choruses to break in and comment.

This song "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. Is in the Guinness Books of World Records as the most played and listen to song in radio history. That is how good this song is and how great the team of Counter Tenor Bobby Hatfield and Baritone Bill Medley were. They were great!!

And, "Unchained Melody" was the only song (same recording) to be a hit twice. In 1965 and 1980 in the movie "Ghost" gave it new discovery to the next generation. There will never was or will be, any duo as great. ::

@@dawnaberry4197 Correct! When the movie 'Ghost' (1990) came out and used Alex North and Hy Zaret's (1955) composition of 'Unchained Melody' as the movie score. Bobby Hatfield's studio version went number one in the United Kingdom.

When I was a teenager 'back in the '60s, the Righteous Brothers were in the air-- literally--(just read here that this song was the most frequently played on the radio in the 20th century!) We loved that sound, and your video is bringing it all back. Yes, their voices & harmonies were amazing, but what's more amazing is the soul in those voices; no other way to describe it. I am so happy to see younger generations getting blown away by these guys!

The Righteous Brothers were frequent guests on the ABC prime-time Rock music program, “Shindig”, which aired from 1964 to 1966. In 1964, The Righteous Brothers teamed up with The Blossoms (a female African-American singing trio) to sing a cover of the Ray Charles hit song, “The Night Time (Is The Right Time)”. The TV performance is available for viewing here on KZbin, and I recommend that you react to it when you get the chance to do so.
