Yes, both of Geddy Lee's parents were in concentration camps as they were Jewish. That is where they met as teenagers. Geddy's father died when Geddy was 12. More than likely from the physical abuse in the camps. Alex Lifeson's parents are from Serbia and his father also spent time in a work camp during the war. Very powerful song! I am reading Geddy's book My Effin Life right now and he dedicated a whole chapter to his parents experience during the Holocaust. The book is excellent!

I listened to Geddy read the audiobook. I'm not sure that didn't make it worse, but IMHO it was worth it.

Talking about his parents in a Nazzi camp. Geddy's parents met their and the rest is an AWSOME miracle. RUSH! 😊

F this song takes on new meaning for me! Knowing Geddy’s parents survived the concentration camps makes me tear up!! I’m proud and thankful being Canadian for him as my parents came to Canada in 55. My parents lived of of corn for a few years.

Horrific heartbreaking lyrics from the one and only-Rush, rocking out to real world events 😂🎸🎹🎤🥁notice how Geddy WASN’T even wearing a bass guitar during that one.🤯

This song is the song that made me a Rush fan. I had listened to a lot of bands. I got very disappointed hearing them play live and not being able to reproduce songs adequately live. I heard this studio version and was mesmerized but the solos but quickly said “ there’s no way they can do that live.” Then I heard this live version. They nailed it. A dedicated Rush fan was born.

I was a little surprised how dry Geddy's vocal was here. He sounds amazing, just different to what I'm used to 🎼✨😮🤯💜💜💜

Another WW2-themed song that you may like is Manhattan Project from their subsequent album Power Windows, which was based on the events surrounding the development and deployment of the first atomic bomb; if you'd like to see it done live, I recommend the performance from the Clockwork Angels Tour, where the string ensemble gives it a powerful punch. Cheers from Toronto! 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🐐 🐐 🐐

This song always left me conflicted. It is a great song with an incredible, driving guitar riff, but the lyrics are just so dark. It seems weird rocking out to death and destruction. That being said it is one of my favorite RUSH songs.

Geddy's story is what inspired it, but Peart specifically said it takes place in the future and isn't specifically about the holocaust.

Great reaction to a heart felt song. Thanks! Btw; You should start reacting to "The Warning" band! They are a TRUE 3 pc rock band like Rush. It's 3 sisters from Monterrey Mexico, they speak perfect English & Spanish). There story is incredible. They just played on MTV, 2 songs, live. Bass player is only 18, drummer is 20 & guitarist/lead vocalist is 23. They're sponsored by Orange amps, Spector Basses, and top notch drum and cymbal companies. Metallica invited them to play on their last album (Blacklist Album), along with 50 other bands, but they put The Warning's song (Enter Sandman remake) as the first track. Drummer was awarded rock drummer of the year. Their mom was a dentist, I believe,in Monterry, and their Pappy was a music/sound Engineer...they both gave up their careers to travel and support their 3 daughters. The 3 sisters have really great attitudes, character & respect. No drugs, alchohol, cursing, tattoos, piercings (no freaking bull-noses, lol). They have 4 or 5 albums. Their drummer, Pau (Pow) wrote most of their songs, like drummer Neil Peart of Rush. They've opened for big names like Def Leppard, Stryper, The Killers, Three Days Grace. LOVERBOY, and many others. They also headline many of their own shows. They were on The Ellen Show when they were younger and The Show gave them $10,000 a piece to attend that Music College (???). Spector Bass Company created a custom bass in the name of Alejandra (Ale) youngest sister, it's called "Ale's Inferno"....retails for $6,000. 10 years ago they did a video in their basement/studio in Monterry Mexico...Enter Sandman, by Metallica. Their Pappy/Dad posted it on KZbin before they went on a cruise mainly for their relatives to see their progreesio. Well, when they returned from the cruise their parent's phones were blowing up. It's the video that basically put them on the map. Currently it has millions of views. They were only 8, 11 & 14 at the time of video. ANYWAYS...You should begin with their song called "Evolve", either studio track or their live version performed on MTV VMA Awards, current crowd favorite. Get ready! "You've been Warned!" Thanks Fabian.

I assume you are talking about that Trump wannabe to our North? Right wing extremism has become a threat worldwide. Peart saw this shit show coming from a mile away. Talked about it in his many books.
