The guy with the red hair in this video is Minho! He just released an album earlier this month, his very first solo album. I recommend checking out his music video for the title track, Chase. It's very cinematic and you can tell he put his film degree and acting chops to great use. Also, we're all so happy he finally released a solo album, and on top of that, it completes a series of "plagiarism" albums SHINee began after Taemin's first album ACE in 2014. From there, Jonghyun released BASE, KEY released FACE, Jinki (Onew) released VOICE, and finally Minho completed the sequence with CHASE. It's super cool and unique to them as a group. They're icons! Especially amazing live performances. But they also are amazing solo performers! As live performances as a group, you could have a look to: Stranger, Sherlock, Excuse Me Miss from Shinee World IV concert. Why So Serious, Alive, Trigger from Shinee World V concert. With "Don't Call Me," SHINee are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to create the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and a songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14. However, now SHINee are known for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists and they're all impressive dancers. SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New in English or On-New with a Korean accent, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one with the hoodie -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) He is one of the most coveted male voices that all other singers dream of getting a chance to collaborate with. His vocals are unmatched. Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits*. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment, so Key is recognized for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He has a reputation for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also considered SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He has a photographic memory when it comes to choreography, so he only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. *Pearl Aqua is SHINee's fan color, so all the blue/green aqua colors you see in this MV are meant to represent SHINee. That is why in the scene where they are wearing the brown outfits, Key has the aqua yarn woven into his sweater and why the collar of Onew's jacket was dyed aqua, etc. Minho -- the one with the red hair -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. He is also known as a star athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. And, Taemin -- the one with the blond highlights and the white bandana -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry (one of the top 2 best dancers of all dancers in Kpop), and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular male solo artists and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed away more than 5 years ago now -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop whose voice was unmatched. He also was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. I know that SM already has it listed in their investors report for q2 so anywhere between April - June. Taemin is due back April 4th (according to his countdown) so fingers crossed for May. And there has been multiple speculation on a world tour in the later half of 2023.

These boys are known for their amazing live vocals and performances which granted them the title "CD-nee" because they sound even greater live than in a studio track. I highly recommend watching their live performances of "Stranger" and "Sherlock (clue+note)" from SHINee world IV. If you want to hear amazing live ballads I would recommend watching "Selene 6.23" and "Sleepless Night". Each of the 5 SHINee members have unique voices and together make some of the best music in kpop.

The first video I saw of Shinee was 'From now on - Shinee World Best 2018'. It captured and haunted me for a long time. I learned later that it was the closing song of the first concert they held after their team member Jonghyun had passed. This song is so raw a full of emotion, it still gets to me when I listen to it. The version of Selene 6.23 that I am most familiar with is from a recent TV show, sung by Onew from Shinee and a gifted Korean jazz artist, Sunwoo Jung-a (amongst other styles of music she is amazing in). The song was recorded live and only with keyboard accompanied. Plus the sound of rain, which was falling during the outside performance. Magic!

Fun facts. The book Onew throws away holds the song lyrics. The solo piano segment at the end is taemin. An finally the members were upset when filming because the flooring was slippery and the members and dancers almost fell a few times. The song is about a broken relationship but the person keeps trying to rekindle it and is being told don't call me because as far as they're concerned it's over and done

The way I was so obsessed with this song when it came out!!! Its still one of my favs! I love the piano and Onews voice and Taemins voice and Keys voice and Minhos voice haha. Shinee was one of the first two groups I listened to when I first got into kpop like 10 years ago, them and DBSK!! They will always hold a special place in my heart. Amazing reaction 🤩, I just love that you love too. If you want to start getting it would be best to start with Taemin, since he's the first one out of the group to have a solo career, and fun fact he's the only idol still active that went through 3 generations of kpop, 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and 4th gen. Thank you for the reaction to Don't Call Me. It's funny last night I was watching a video of them in the recording studio for this song and I think it was Taemin saying he wondered how fans would take/like the song bc it was a bit different from, I guess, their other songs. I enjoyed watching the process of them each in the recording booth. Taemin was having a little bit of trouble hitting those notes and it was cute lol. He was like why is it so high I was doing it home lol. The one with the red hair in Minho and when you said he came in shirtless I said to myself, well he is called the flaming charisma lol (that really is a name the fans gave him.) He also currently has a new KDrama on Netflix it's a RomCom and he's done a few. He's a good actor from what I have seen. All of them have solo music/music videos you might enjoy. I don't know if you've done any videos on Taemin but there is 1 or 2 on his voice history. In the beginning he was not a good singer. Everyone knew that even the guys in the group. He was their front dancer but he wanted to be more. He wanted to be good at singing as well. Because his voice was changing, no one wanted to help train him and told him to basically give it up. The videos show how he worked at it and never gave up to the amazing singer he is today. You may want to check them out in your down time. Have a Happy and safe New Year!!

I started as a SHAWOL, then became ARMY. As much as I love the boys and wish them luck, I find it hard to watch them at times since the loss of one of their members. I do listen to their songs, just dont watch their mv's unless I know I can handle it.

Love Kenshi Yonezu! Such a maverick and artist! As an intro to him I listened to Lemon, which seems to have been widely covered, even by BTS (not sure if it was an official cover that I saw), and then the song he did with Masaki Sato. But also Orion, Pale Blue and so many other good songs
