If you get the chance you should really listen to the Skillet song, "Alive and Awake", the live version, because it also features Jen Ledger the drummer doing some of the singing. She is a really good singer and has her own project outside of Skillet called, 'Ledger'. But the song Alive and Awake is always a crowd pleaser at concerts and festivals. Good job young lady!!!

I'm so glad you choose this song! Skillet tours with non-Christian bands all the time. John speaks the name of Jesus from stage and gives positive messages. It's the non-overtly religious songs that allows them to have a wide audience. They have softer ballads as well. I can give more recommendations for Christian rock and metal if you'd like.

Christian Rock has been around for a long long time, far back as the 1970's as I remember. Petra, was a good Christian Rock band from back then (and on into today with a couple remaining members), Striper was a popular Christian Metal band from the 1980's.

If you like the Christian rock vibe check out the band Stryper. They had a hit back in the late 80's called 'To Hell With the Devil'. Good song. The lead singer, Michael Sweet, also does some solo stuff where he met Moriah Formica, a contestant on Season 13 of The Voice and the lead singer of the band Plush, an up and coming band that has toured with some pretty big names. Moriah joined Stryper on stage one night and they performed the song "to hell with the devil". I suggest giving it a listen even if you don't do a reaction to it.

David and the Giants is an amazing christian rock band formed in the 60's .. In 1977 they went Christian and are still hitting it .. Stryper had a huge career on tour in the big league. P.O.D had a pretty major pop hit. Jars of Clay. Third Day. and Alice Cooper ...

I agree, Diana. I was listening and waiting to hear how this all tied back into their love of God and the Gospel of Christ. That said, it was a good song.

American Biscuits and Cornbread are two commonly cooked foods in a Iron Skillet and very good. Did You know? the Iron Skillet Helps infuse the Butter, Oil, Egg, and Milk into the Biscuits and Cornbread to give it it's best taste compared to cooking it on a cookie sheet/pan in the oven.

A lot of Skillet's songs have spiritual themes. Some of their songs with more obvious spiritual messages include: Stars, Whispers in the dark, Sick of it. They often try to do a lot of outreach to people struggling with depression and substance abuse, and present themes of encouragement and strength while presenting all men including themselves as fallen, and pointing to the divine as an avenue to save. They definitely aren't meant for everybody, but I think everyone has their mission and they have found it.

This song is by far the most popular, but you should also check out some of their songs where they mix male/female vocals.

Others have suggested "Awake and Alive" which I'm definitely a big fan of, and I'd also suggest "Legendary" -- which I actually know because it was repurposed for the theme song to WWE Monday Night Raw for a period of time, and is probably my favorite theme song of that show after "Burn it to the Ground" by Nickelback. (To paraphrase Ron "R-Truth" Killings, "DON'T @ ME!" _beat_ "OK, @ ME!" -- you had to be there.)
