@roberthunter4884 Жыл бұрын
Well, it's lesson time. The original formation of the band was in 1973 catching gigs wherever they could but they hadn't gained any notoriety so Paul Robert's (lead singer and founder) dissolved the band and moved to France where he met Luigi Salvoni who had heard a couple of Robert's demos and decided to be Paul's producer and drummer.Salvoni used to be in a band called Moon along with guitarist Loz Netto, who also joined the group. They then added bassist Chris Birkin and guitarist Mike Dyche. Alan Fealdman was the keyboardist. Although the song was recorded in 1978, the record label was going through a distribution change and the album wasn't released until a year later in 1979. The single, "Driver's Seat" used guest keyboardist Keith Miller and guest backup vocalist Noel McCalla, who had been Moon's lead singer. The album Fickle Heart was a success, mainly due to the single "Driver's Seat", however, shortly after the release of the album, the band had fractured with members going off to pursue other interests. The band reformed with new members and moved forward, however, "Fickle Heart' was still their only major success.To this day, Paul is the only member left playing in the group. Now the fun stuff!!! The band was originally going to be called The Tears, but Salvoni suggested Sniff 'n' The Tears because Paul had severe hayfever and was always sniffing due to his runny nose.,So Paul was Sniff and The Tears was the band. The 'n' represents the word 'and ' , it's not like sniffing the Tears, it's a common mistake. Paul also had a slight speech impediment so people misheard the lyrics "a little jiving on a Saturday night" instead they heard "a little driving " However the lines that follow describe that they had indeed been dancing. The song has nothing to do with driving. According to Paul it's about the fragmented, conflicting thoughts and emotions that might follow up breakup of a relationship. To be in the Driver's Seat is to be in charge, to be in control of your life. Paul was also a great artist, he painted the cover of the album,,which you see on the face of the bass drum. And now you know the rest of the story. This is still one of my all time favorites. Anyway, loved the review, love you guys, take care and stay safe ❤️

Good on you mentioning Paul's art career. In some circles he's known more as an outstanding hyper-realist painter than the former singer of Sniff n the Tears.

What a wonderful interpretation of a remarkable one hit wonder. I was a teen when this song was released in 1979, and yes, it has a certain dark, almost ominous undertone. 45 years have passed, but this seemingly timeless song still has it. Disco was till huge in 1979, however there were rocking bands, singer songwriters, sappy love songs and the new wave was just arriving. Here's a few suggestion if you want to catch some of this time's vibe: Ian Gomm "Hold On"; Alan Parsons Project "Lucifer"; Iain Matthews "Shake it"; Rickie Lee Jones "Chuck E's in Love"; Cars "Let's Go"; Electric Light Orchestra "Shine A Little Love"; Bad Company "Rock n Roll Fantasy"; John Stewart "Gold"; Dire Straits "Sultans Of Swing" (released in UK 1978, North America 1979 release); Led Zeppelin "All of My Love"; Gerry Rafferty "Get It Right Next Time"; Chris Norman/Suzi Quatro "Stumblin In"; Giorgio Moroder "Chase"; Prism "Armageddon"; April Wine "Say Hello"; Roxy Music "Dance Away".... every one of these songs has an interesting backstory. Well done!

Very strange song. The drums never change once. That’s why it’s hypnotic. If you think about it, the other instruments all sound like they’re playing a different song but it works.

I was with you here Dawn. The Knack was the same, The Cars, & The Police we did dig.
@dawnpatrol700 Жыл бұрын
@@amrak5028 the Knack had a couple good songs, but the album wasn't great overall. The Cars and Police had albums where every single song was great. My favorite Police songs are deep cuts- Murder By Numbers, Jaurais Toujours Faim de toi, Man in the Suitcase, Peanuts, it's Alright For You, Tea in the Sahara etc. Same thing with the Cars - I'm obsessed with CandyO, love " it's all I can do", even the ultra weird stuff like " shoo-be-doo". Breakaway is a good Cars b-side, that got a little radioplay

The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that doesn't depend on the govt. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC,ETH...)

You actually need an expert trader assigned by a registered broker company to help you out. I currently trade expert Mrs Lori Jean. I thought I'm the only one trading with her .
