"THAT GUY with the voice" is the leader of Stray Kids, Bang Chan. Unusually for the KPop industry, he selected the members, all of whom have become exceptionally skilled in everything. Pre the formation of the group he and the two distinctive rappers you keep noticing, Han Jisung and Seo Changbin, formed a rap/songwriting/producing team called 3RACHA which has a hand in writing and producing most of the Stray Kids discography (again, unusual in the industry). On Sundays Bang Chan hosts Chan's Room where he chills out with fans for an hour playing music and chatting about whatever in both English and Korean. He always finishes with a hug for STAYS. Honestly, apart from their creative abilities, they also just come across as a bunch of really nice people who've formed their own supportive chosen family. I think that's part of their appeal.

I just want to say don't worry too much about captions, a lot of us can't even focus on the lyrics during the first listening. Usually we take all the visuals and sounds in first just so we know what we're getting into, and then we go back for a second listening and pay attention to lyrics and other things we missed. Side note: whenever you're ready to jump into a new kpop rabbit hole I really think you'll like Ateez. My personal recommendation is their song "Inception"

Straykids can do it all, not just rap heavy and high energy. If you wanna here a beautiful ballad by then I recommend watching the live preference of Never Ending Story. It’s soooo gooodddd. I also recommend you watch their pre debut song “Hellivator” and their actual debut song “district 9”. It will help show you their progress from when they first started out vs now 4 years later 😄

if you want to see a guide/documentary, i’d really recommend “this is stray kids” by skzflix! there are 3 parts, so it’s kinda long, but if you wanted to just do one per episode, i don’t think it would be too much! i think it’s the best guide out there to learn about them, and i love your reactions!

“Back Door” is my favorite Stray Kids song. Like you, I surprised myself in becoming a k-pop fan. I’m actually a metal/metalcore girl and have been for most of my adult life. Then I discovered the amazing Taemin, and he opened my eyes to k-pop. Now I love them all; Shinee, BTS, Stray Kids, Ateez, Enhypen, TXT, The Boyz, Exo, Cix, Kang Daniel, Woodz etc. So much talent! When I tried to describe to my friend why I had fallen in love with k-pop, what I said was “it just makes me so happy”. So I can relate to you 100%. You should definitely check out Taemin, he’s a k-pop icon, and he will blow your mind. He’s dark and edgy and considered to be maybe THE no1 dancer in the genre. My favorites are “Criminal” and “Want”. You should also check out Studio Choom’s videos, so many k-pop groups have recorded performance videos there. The studio’s main focus is the choreography, and their lighting, camera work and editing is superb. My favs are Hoshi - “Spider”, Hyunjin (Stray Kids) - “Motley Crue” and Juyeon (The Boyz) - “You Should See Me In A Crown”. Pure dance magic! Stray Kids also did amazing performances of “God’s Menu” and “Thunderous” at Studio Choom, and Ateez’s “Fireworks” is, well.. fireworks. Have fun on your kpop journey, you’re never getting out now. 😄

I think "Back Door" is probably one of their more iconic videos, a lot of people remember it fondly. I personally like "Double Knot" from their older work but I'm more a fan of their newer stuff from "No Easy" on. There are some great singles on that like "Cheese", "Surfin", "The View", and "Domino", it's a great vibe of an album. They released a Christmas EP last year that was very Stray Kids but worthwhile to check out. They released an anthem to their fans last year called "LoveSTAY" which has an MV. They released a new mini-album in January with "Placebo", they released "Scars" in Japan but they also released a Korean version. And there's a new album coming very soon. These boys never stop working. Most Idols are busy but it really seems like Stray Kids are really out there hustling. Also, they're very involved with their music and MV's and their label gives them a bit more freedom than most K-Pop labels. That's why they've been able to create such a succinct and defined "Stray Kids" sound. You can always tell a Stray Kids song. Don't worry about being overwhelmed with the music, visuals and lyrics. K-Pop music videos are intense, there's a lot of hard work being put in. There's always a concept, it's not just a singer in front of a green screen or on a set. You can always just enjoy the MV first and get your initial thoughts and then watch a lyric video afterwards and then you can focus a lot on the music and lyrics. I'm curious about your musical interpretation.

I would love to see you react to their performances on a program called The First Take (Scars, Slump and Mixtape:OH). It is where they sing a song but only have one shot to do it. These three songs really show off their ability as performers and are some of their slower, more vocal heavy songs. There's eight members: Bang Chan, (the leader with the red hair); Lee Know (I wanna say the one at the beginning with the switch); Felix (deep voice); I.N. (youngest, or "maknae", and the one with blue hair); Hyunjin (the one with the lighter pink hair and that was the first to start dancing); Seungmin (the one who starts the pre-chorus before I.N.); Han (the first one to start rapping); and last but not least, Changbin (the second one to start rapping, who is also the fastest rapper in K-Pop). There was also another member, Woojin, who has since left the group, but we don't fully know why, so don't believe too many stories about it. He's a solo artist, and definitely worth checking out. Also, something you could to help you learn which is which--and this helped me out a lot--is to watch fan videos, either together or individually, An Introduction to Stray Kids--pick one--interviews, Song Association, their series' like Song Camp etc. You don't have to watch them on your channel, but maybe they'll help as they definitely did with me. 😊

I'd recommend, God's Menu: Du Du Du song. Also Red Lights (it's only two members but it's a mood shift) Side Effects, Victory Song and Miroh are some of their other super high energy. Easy is probably their most rap heavy. And if you want a mood shift but MY favorite, Levanter.

You need to watch the show Kingdom: Legendary War. Stray Kids are in it along with 5 other K-pop groups. The performances are amazing, like watching a Vegas or Broadway show. You might also want to watch Queendom and Road to Kingdom for other amazing groups and performances. These 2 shows came before the one with Stray Kids. There’s a mind blowing performance of Love Poem with Seungmin from Skz that really shows how great his voice is. I think you can watch it in pieces on KZbin but I watched it in full on Dramacool website. Just close the adverts and the show will play. You won’t regret it. 💜💜💜

One of the best kpop raps I’ve ever heard is from the group Victon in their song “What I Said”. If you have time, you should check it out! They have a similar sound and energy to Stray Kids :)

Your not crazy and i totally feel u man! I feel the same way when i started getting to know stray kids as well. Im definately a 'stay' now, thats their fandome name, just fyi. They produce their own songs and choreograph their own dance as well. Mind blowing isnt it ... hehhehe.. i know right!
