Talk Talk is one of those bands that you discover and you go “why is nobody talking about these guys?” they absolutely deserve more recognition, especially the later albums are sonically very adventurous, total headphone music. So yeah, like most people here, I’d recommend Such a Shame and my personal fav, Desire.

Talk Talk was such a great synth band, and Mark Hollis, the lead singer, hated synth. Give songs like "Talk Talk", "The Party's Over", "Life's What You Make It", "Today", "Happiness Is Easy" and "Such A Shame" a listen.... I love that Talk Talk is getting heard again... "Such a Shame" and "Talk Talk" are two others by them you might like. There's a German band called Alphaville (they sing in English) but the soundscape/instrumentation and harmonies have similarities to this band, and I've seen you react to other tracks in that style and enjoy them--You'd likely be the first to react to them... This is a layered moment I'm having. #1) Almost your 1st word was HAUNTED...(voice) - and that's how I've always described this song! BUT, more layers for me: I'm 71! I was a pro working musician all my adult life, including all through the 80s, but somehow NEVER heard this song till just awhile back when Mark Hollis died! This is why we old folk in our mid-60's will ALWAYS love the synth-pop music of the middle-1980's. "It's My Life" is very special to me--almost 40 years later--because it helped me through a four-year battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma (which I obviously won because "it's my life" then, and it's still my life today.) The POWER of this song lies in its deeply felt BEAUTY and those aspects are inseparable. Sometimes I feel as if this miraculous recording does, in fact, tap into the human collective unconsciousness through the voice of Marc Hollis. One cannot deny its appeal across time and distance. It leaves its mark on us all. In the harmonies of Talk-Talk's "Its My Life" people find a harmony within themselves as truth and beauty mesh. A joyous and inspiring song from a man who was known specifically for his "gentle beauty."

I think their early stuff may have been bigger in the US but they are one of those bands who got better over time. Try Life’s What You Make It, next where the vocals almost sound like an instrument. Astonishing song.

One of the songs of the 80's. Possibly THE song of the 80's. Talk Talk were a wonderful band that produced some fabulous music. It still sounds great today.
