That reminds me of the 80s in NYC. Sneak out of the house in Brooklyn take the subway to Manhattan. You could end up in a hardcore punk club, new wave concert, crazy diner and real freak show in the subway heading back home before parents woke up. Thank God I survived.

Omg same!! Except I lived in Manhattan in Washington heights and we would take the subway downtown after sneaking out and go to the Limelight, Palladium, Webster hall, damn it was so different in the late 80s and early 90s, but I also think to myself, a lot, thank god I survived, now that I’m an adult I can see how dangerous and risky it was to sneak out at 14-17 years old and go clubbing and drinking on our own, and riding the subway at ungodly hours after sneaking out, our parents having no idea, it’s truly a miracle nothing bad ever happened to us.....

Laura was an AMAZING artist, may she Rest In Peace. Her (4-octave) voice was incredible! If you want to see where her voice truly shines, check out “Solitaire.” It’a a slow build to some incredible vocals. In fact, she holds one of the longest notes in pop history near the end of it. Gives me chills every time I hear it! ❤️❤️❤️ I also recommend “Shattered Glass,” “Ti Amo,” “The Lucky One,” and “The Power of Love,” yes, the Celine Dion song, originally sung by a Jennifer Rush, and then covered by Laura, and then Celine. Jennifer’s and Celine’s are beautiful but too polished, Laura’s is grittier with more emotion, and my favorite of the three because of it.

I relate to this song. I'm a night person and happily lived alone in Fulham, London, in the eighties. At least four times in the week I'd be out late in clubs and bar lock-ins. I came alive at night and many times socialised with "not your-run-of-the-mill" people. Always managed to get to work in time after a few hours sleep. God I miss those days.
