It was Taylor who really introduced Ed to America and allowed him to put his career where it is. I mean I am not saying he was a nobody before (in the UK he was known, although not like today) or that he wouldn't have gotten success on his own, but back in 2012-2013 Taylor was this mega star in America who had already gotten several Grammys, had already successes like "Love Story" "You Belong with me" and "Mine" and Ed was really unknown, by touring with her his career really took off and people knew who he was, his first really successful album was "X" which was released a year after touring with Taylor. Ed even got Taylor's album that he toured for tattood, he clearly knew how important that exposition to the public was to his career It was also Taylor who really introduced Shawn Mendes to the public, he was her opening act in several locations back during the 1989 tour (in 2015, when he had just released his first album) and there is no doubt that Shawn wouldn't have gotten half as big as he has if he hadn't had the publicity of opening for the biggest artist of the moment (1989 was Taylor's big era with the general public, she was everywhere back then). In a smaller sense, she also helped Camila Cabello's career. I mean not as much as the two previous singers since she was already known by the public for being part of Fifth Harmony and she was already poised to be the "successful one" (kind of the Harry of the group if you know what I mean), but after the group broke up being the opening act for Reputation was the first solo thing she did, and well, being opener of the second highest grossing tour for a female in the history of the US gave her a pretty comfortable position to release her first album. My point with all of this being Taylor smells success and if she were an agent discovering new stars with her own label she would leave all other labels broke. Luckily for them (and us) she prefers to release her own music still

Ed had said he never thought he'd become big in America and that he always thought he'd be contained to Europe, but then Taylor Swift asked him to tour with her (for the RED album) and he agreed to be her opening act, which then kickstarted his career in the states.
