@@pradeepsen5780 I agree completely. I guess you are saying 1963-1969? The Beatles as a band name started in 1960, 2-3 years before they released their first breakthrough hits. Before 1960, they were a band but with 4 other band names, and not yet famous, but you are absolutely right, they were only working as a famous band for about six years! That's unbelievable! Around 30 #1 hits, 100's of brilliant songs, 13 great albums, 3 movies (they had little involvement with Yellow Submarine, the 4th movie), all in 6 years! The Let It Be album was released in 1970, and a couple of recording sessions occurred in early 1970, but without Lennon. [Wikipedia]

I'm learning the ukelele and most of the beginner songs are Beatles songs. Their song structures are quite easy. It's the emotion and storytelling they put into it is what makes their music remarkable. They took LSD, took trips to India and studied spirituality. As someone who does Buddhist meditation, I hear mantras all throughout their music and the poetry in their lyrics very much expresses what we can all experience when we turn inwards and discover our own light. No LSD or other substances needed but I don't judge those who try it.

My Beatles fan older sister heard this as "Hi Guru Dev, va Om," bring a reference to a less famous guru than the Maharishi, "va" as Spanish for go and Om is obv. So 'hey you just go away and chant your Om.' 1980s, pre Internet, and she was an English major.
@papercup2517
@papercup2517 5 ай бұрын
As I understand it, 'guru' can also mean, more specifically, one who brings us from darkness to light. So you could also see the line as hailing that divine force that enables our minds and hearts to open to receive the illumination of higher truth. This Teacher or conveyor of our souls from one state to the next could be anyone or anything in the Universe or just something calling us from deep within our hearts.

believe it or not the beatles thought this was a throw away song. they gave it away, FREE, to the charity "the world wildlife fund" who put it on an album with other artists to raise money. phil spector later included his version of the song repleat with mass orchestration on the beatles last album "let it be." there's 3 versions of this song now. the 'let it be" version, the "wildlife fund' version and the version that appears on mccartney's reworking of "let it be" called "let it be naked" that removes all the phil spector influences from those songs. you're hearing the phil specter "let it be" version. its one of my favorite lennon compositions which aptly demonstrates lennon's knack for word play and lyrical imagery. thanks for the video.

Sarah, I love the way you reacted to this. How you realised the love that inspired the song and the depth of the thinking behind it.

I am a boomer, a ☮️💟 and Woodstock gal, and so glad to see young people embracing our wonderful tunes from the 1960's and 70's. There is so much out there, and John Lennon was an icon. ❤️

@@mikejohnson7473 Many people think so. John liked it, though - said Spector "did a damned good job" with the original "lousy" recording.

I have spiritual friend who sees John when he stops for a visit. Folks 'on the other side' are doing very well. In the book "Great Minds Speak to You" John speaks to us. Oh, it was a very sad day. But John's fine now. 😇🙏❤

The Beatles are one of the few Artists that come to the Earth but once in a millennium. Their body of work in a relatively short time is So Extensive that there will be something for Everyone no matter who or what you are. Of course this is one of my favorite John songs, I remember an interview with the late Great Sir. George Martin, he said that if you wanted to know which Beatle penned a particular song, an easy way to know is that whichever Beatle is singing it, that is a good indication of which one wrote it. Anyways I love the Beatles and it just warms the cockles of my heart to see the younger generation's appreciation for the sound track of my life.............🎸♥️
