I really love this song! Nostalgis gets more bittersweet the older you get. Everytime a sweet memory from your youth makes you smile, it also makes you sigh because that world is gone forever.

You've described it perfectly! The "Yesterday" we've experienced will always be in our heart and mind...and the 70s, if you grew up then...was sooo SPECIAL at least musically.

Karen is loved and revered as a legendary voice by Prince, Madonna and many other iconic artists. She is truly one of the greatest female vocalists of all time, and nobody has ever matched her even still today. The Carpenters songs you’ve heard so far have only scratched the surface of the amazing list of wonderful songs they did throughout the 70s and early 80s, until her untimely death in 1983 at the young age of 32. And also, you should check out their Christmas songs from their 1978 Christmas album. You’ll find Karen’s singing of the Christmas classics are probably the best you’ve ever heard.

Grateful for this request, DJ, and your appreciation, JJ. In the midst of Soul & Rock powerhouses and monster hits, they held their own because of her deep, full voice and his songwriting talent. Thanks 🤪

Wow, I totally forgot about this song which I haven't heard in about 40 years. Again I stand behind my statement that, The Carpenter songs were beautifully composed songs. The title throw me off and I thought I didn't know this song.

Remember , ALL VOICES YOU HEAR are Richard & Karen ; they over-dubbed their own voices to make background vocals. ----------From the summer of 1973.

Karen had the voice of an angel, so sweet and mellow. This song does a wonderful tribute to doo wop and soft rock songs.

From that long ago Summer of '73-----------when the nostalgia for 50's & 60's music was so big --------written by Richard & John Bettis.-------------MJL, 76 y/o

When John Bettis was working on the song lyrics to this song, they kind of used the Every Shala la la part as a "dummy' lyric....and were going to put hit songs of the 1950s into it (instead of the Every Sha La La La part) and when Karen walked by and heard that she thought that was a dumb idea....so they kept in the Every Sha La La La, Every Wo Wo Wo part into the chorus....

This was from their 1973 album Now and Then. It was part oldies covers, part new songs with their bassist Tony Peluso as the DJ introducing the songs. This song was bridge between yesterday and today.

Hi, This song is actually part of a BIG medley in they’re Now and Then album. You should really check out it. I loved all the medley songs that followed. This album was titled Now and Then because the A side are new songs (Now) and the B side are the oldies (Then). It would be nice iif you can react to the B side of the album. While checking out this album, listen to This Masquerade.

One of my favourite tracks of the Carpenters. For a Carpenters song that has not yet been reacted to try Sailing on the Tide which is one of their few "happy" tracks with a catchy beat. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHKxlYire7SHnJI
