Australian English is derived from UK English so, yes, "to-mar-to." Bit less sweet than Ketchup. Bang on, "bar food." A meal is a "feed" in Aussie lingo. So, in many Australian suburbs & country towns, there'll be pubs where there may not be restaurants. Pub meals are generally a bit less formal, but usually generous servings, good honest food. Or, in another Aussie term, "good tucker."

I used to stay in rural areas for work a lot and I've had so many pub feeds. Chicken Parma or steak with mushroom sauce, always with chips and salad. Some of the best feeds I've ever had have been at those little pubs 👌

So cool that you're reacting to The Chats. They hail from my part of Australia here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. They really capture some of the true authentic Aussie culture :-) And yes, it is tomato sauce....pronounced "tomarto", however potato is, indeed, pronounced "potayto" lol

These guys were one of the head line acts at Glastonbury recently. Rumor has it Dave Grohl has been spotted at a few of their gigs. Great band that is a bit out of the mound of some of those great early 80’s Aussie bands you two have reacted too. Many of them grew out of Aussie and NZ pubs just as the Chats and Amyl and the Sniffers have today. It’s raw. It’s fun. It’s honest music.

The Chats have Played in some decent size US Festivals, there is some Aussie Slang Dictionaries online, nothing beats a Club/Pub Feed us Aussies loves it. Yanks are only ones that say Tomaaaato Sauce No we call Tomato Sauce like rest of world, US puts extra sugar in Tomato Sauce and call it Ketchup.. Pub Feed for Aussies is large serve, but compared to size of servings in US it would be considered Medium Size Feed.

Ketchup and tomato sauce are different things. Over here at least. Tomato sauce comes in a can and you use it for cooking and ketchup comes in a bottle and is a condiment. Love the Chats.
