A man.A plan.A canal. Panama is absolutely, unequivocally one the best songs I’ve ever heard in my entire 37 years here! So many time changes and very solid drumming. One of my favorites for sure! 🤘💯

Sweet reaction dude! This song is the first taste of the drug that is TFoT haha. Nice to hear the DGD drop too. That band, among many others, have cited TFoT as their inspiration and for creating essentially the whole genre of "swancore".

I remember around 2006 one of the band members (either bassist or guitar) before their set was to the side of the stage practicing or something, and he was really frustrated. It seemed like he wasn't doing what he wanted to on his instrument, and he eventually just threw his guitar down and broke it, and another member came over to talk to him and he like visibly upset. My buddy told me he was a perfectionist and was probably mad he wasn't doing something perfect

This band gets a lot of flack for their writing being kinda corny and their ADHD instrumentation but they’re still one of the most influential post-hardcore acts of the 2000s. Their demo tracks for Tom Waits and Laces Out, Dan! are legit some of my favourite songs of all time, but imo their studio production really let them down as it fails to catch their raw energy and pure talent. The lead vocalist / guitarist Thom Erak wrote much of their music in his mid to late teens, including the tabs for bass and drums. They also seamlessly bend genres and can go from emo-pop melodies, to mind-melting mathcore, to some of the heaviest breakdowns you’ll ever hear. They’re kinda like an American Northwest flavoured Maximum the Hormone.
