I used to be so obsessed with this band bacj in the day. Never could figure out how Thomas Erak could sing/scream and shred on the guitar at the same time

Gotta love the post hard-core scene of the mid 2000s

The whole song is overload, guitar riffs, bass, vocals, drums are slapping, everything in chaos but harmonious and also palatable.

"Rockstar Nailbomb" was my gateway song into TFOT. It's the first track on their first release as TFOT. It's a 2 minute long song, and that's all it took to sell me on this band. The riff in that song just felt so wild and unapologetic, it literally changed my life, to the point where I still remember vividly where I was and who I was with when I first heard it. If you haven't heard that song, I recommend you check it out. Even if you don't think there's enough there for a review, I suggest just giving it a listen. Has the same "frantic" feel as this one, but in my opinion the guitar riff is just iconic.

Dude I felt the same way, When right after Rockstar nailbomb I heard “I just got this s…” and it was so mindblowing. I started to listen post hardcore and started to learn how to play on electric guitar.

I remember playing this at middle school talent show 😂 we were the “hardcore destroyers”. This was a song that was a start to my metal journey!

I really like this song. It's definitely one of my favorites by TFOT. Glad you covered this one.

This came from the ablum doppleganger, named that because it features multiple re-recordings from the original self titled. FCPREMIX is in fact a remix of the original FCP which is quite a bit slower paced. I loved the analysis about the spatial distance created by the echo effect though, always great insights from your stuff.

This was one of the first bands that I discovered through The Hirsch Effekt (because THE were some times called "the German Fall of Troy"). I still remember when I curiously listened to TFoT's album Doppelganger (which I still think is their best) and instantly fell in love with it. Very nice to see this song here!

This band is one of those situations my favorite bands' favorite band. They influenced a ton of my favorites, but I still haven't fully gotten around to checking them out. I've heard this song before though, of course. It strikes me as a proto-swancore type thing with all the technical guitar work and mathy stuff thrown in there. As a side note, Johnny Truant is a character in the book House of Leaves. It just struck me since I've been reading it off and on for a little while.

The Fall of Troy!!! hell yeah my man!!, great analysis!! You should definitely chec the band Citycop with the songs X and Ode to Bula / Flight Lessons, these are the first and second track on the album. I recommended 2 songs because X is a short one. Keep it up man!! I love your channel!

@@johnnytruant_ Interesting. I kinda like the idea that it isn't official since it has so little to do with the track but that's kinda post-hardcore in a nutshell -- so many random song titles 😄

It's so weird listening to the original for the first time when this is the only version you know. While F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. has this sort of nervous energy throughout, I find F.C.P.S.I.T.S.G.E.P.G.E.P.G.E.P. more anxiety producing since it feels like it's dragging me along much slower than it's "supposed to" based on F.C.P..R.E.M.I.X. It's an almost suffocating experience for me.

It's funny because I heard the original first before the remix version and I had the same experience but backwards lol. Because FCPREMIX happens faster than my brain expects it. But now I have heard FCPREMIX so many more times that that doesn't happen anymore.

Remember really enjoying these guys (and especially this album) back when I was exploring mathcore. This is definitely one of their simpler songs, but does a good job of giving listeners a taste of the "chaos" of mathcore in a more accessible form. Also, this is a good example of what you were talking about the other day of a band remaking their own music since this song originally appeared on their first album.

the cool thing about this band is how young they were when recording this, so this frantic pacing is really appropriate to their age and the themes on this record
