This is cited by many as a main influence for generations of rock bands. The Kinks are quite underrated and are contemporaries of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Who. Try Sunny Afternoon, All Day and All of the Night and Victoria. Great stuff and Enjoy! 🎸

Arguably the very first hard rock song. And also the first with a very crude distortion effect on the guitar.

All good calls for the next reactions, can't go wrong with The Kinks. Not sure why you have 'You really got me' in there tho, that's the one they just did above! Some other hits... 'Dedicated follower of fashion', 'See my friends' , 'Autumn almanac', 'Days', 'Dead end Street', 'Supersonic rocketship', 'Set me free', 'Stop your sobbing', 'David Watts'.

My parents watched the Beatles debut on American TV The Ed Sullivan show in 1964 with me and my sister, and they both approved of their style and sound (so it became music played in the house) but, they wouldn't have liked the Kinks...

Nobody had ever heard such distortion from an electric guitar until this Song, and “All Day & All of the Night” hit Radio & Record Stores. It was a First, and the 60th Anniversary is coming up too. The Kinks are RRHOF ‘s and may very well reform to play for the 60th. Check out, Celluloid Hero’s, Picture Book, Victoria, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Destroyer, Apeman…

Not London, though. A lot of these groups grew out of northern England where life was rough for many, to say the least. The Beatles were from Liverpool.

The beatles maybe not, but The kinks and small faces, the two best 60s bands imo were from London and I'm from Manchester so I've no bias. But it's just facts (well opinion). The kinks were better than the beatles and the stones, they sounded much harder. They just weren't marketed at 12 year old girls like the beatles.

They started about the same time as The Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Bee Gees and Golden Earring. Of the British classic rock musicians, The Kinks are the best musical comedians. They made such songs sound easy while all the others were serious and grinding! 🤣 Cover. Van Halen. The best known cover bar none! 🤯 RIP Edward van Halen. 🎹🎸 Suggested next video: Lola. 🇬🇧
