This is cited by many as a main influence for generations of rock bands. The Kinks are quite underrated and are contemporaries of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Who. Try Sunny Afternoon, All Day and All of the Night and Victoria. Great stuff and Enjoy! 🎸

My parents watched the Beatles debut on American TV The Ed Sullivan show in 1964 with me and my sister, and they both approved of their style and sound (so it became music played in the house) but, they wouldn't have liked the Kinks...

Ray Davis and Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders singer) had a baby in the 80s, Chrissie wrote a hit song called Middle Of The Road about taking their baby on the road. Great song. Pretenders have a lot of great songs.

You should listen to The Kinks "Lola". "Waterloo Sunset" "Victoria" "Celluloid Heroes" so many bangers from this group. Ray Davies lead vocals and main songwriter, Dave Davies lead guitar. Brothers who really had a tough time being together. Lol. Yeah, they had some issues.

The Kinks were part of the British Invasion of the 60’s and this is a classic Kinks hit from that time. You should give a listen to Lola; a classic Kinks hit from the early 70’s👍🏼.

Nobody had ever heard such distortion from an electric guitar until this Song, and “All Day & All of the Night” hit Radio & Record Stores. It was a First, and the 60th Anniversary is coming up too. @@clash5j a lot of Japanese bands are very protective and they copy strike just about everything if you check I'm not sure how to do it but there are a lot of baby metal videos on one website that have a share layer over them so that you can kind of see what's going on hear the music but they're shading kind of keeps people from getting struck I'm old I don't know any of the technology terms sorry but if you figure out how to put a layer over the video so it shades it and may get through

Not London, though. A lot of these groups grew out of northern England where life was rough for many, to say the least. The Beatles were from Liverpool.

The beatles maybe not, but The kinks and small faces, the two best 60s bands imo were from London and I'm from Manchester so I've no bias. But it's just facts (well opinion). The kinks were better than the beatles and the stones, they sounded much harder. They just weren't marketed at 12 year old girls like the beatles.

Kinks music is a really deep rabbit hole they had so many hits spanning 30 yr -this one is a forerunner of hard rock. Suggestions: Rock n Roll Fantasy, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Pictures of Lily, Sunny AFternoon, Low Budget, I Wish I Could Fly Like Superman etc

This was a fantastic record when it was released in 1964, they and many other groups were inspired by Black music and you can probably feel the vibe in the music. PLEASE try Sam and Dave "soothe me Baby, soothe me".

They started about the same time as The Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Bee Gees and Golden Earring. Of the British classic rock musicians, The Kinks are the best musical comedians. They made such songs sound easy while all the others were serious and grinding! 🤣 Cover. Van Halen. The best known cover bar none! 🤯 RIP Edward van Halen. 🎹🎸 Suggested next video: Lola. 🇬🇧

I think in the US it was just known as the British invasion, but in the UK, The Kinks & Rolling Stones were worlds apart from the Beatles and a host of others. Beatles were Northern, Kinks etc were Southern - It was an important distinction in the UK at the time

The Kinks and the Small Faces are my two favourite bands from the 60's. Steve Marriott has the best voice of all of the British rock singers of the period, only Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company comes close. 'Pictures of matchstick men' wasn't The Kinks, it was Status Quo. The Kinks did do a great song called 'Picture book' , but you said it was psychedelic which that song isn't, so it must be the Quo song you're thinking of.

So many great bands in the 60's and 70's, l remember in the 60's listening to the latest 'hit parade' 😏. Bands like the Stones, Free, Cream, Kinks, The Who, and of course the Beatles. Radio DJ Alan Freeman on a Sunday, with his '' Greetings pop pickers '' catchphrase playing the new singles chart. Happy Days!

Kinks are my favorite band....low budget or Lola are 2 of many of their great tunes....Ray Davies the lead singer was shot(his leg i believe) when trying to grab a purse snatcher that he witnessed
