FWIW, it was a black friend of mine from school that turned me on to this. This was in high school and we would occasionally skip class in the afternoon and go over and play records at my place before my parents got home later. We could get away with it because we were both good students. But boy we played air guitar to this and really the whole album just totally rocks. It really does. I bet you would have a blast reacting to another one of their radio hits, Good Girls Don't, but make sure to get the album version because the radio version censors some of the words, which would be tragic for somebody like you. ❤

I'm right before the Epic guitar solo but damn you always have me fucking well basically you're making my face hurt from just grinning so much and smiling. You are too funny. It makes me miss my high school days I'll tell you. But it was a black dude at school that turned me on to this, and I remember the first time we got it, he bought it like a week after it dropped, and then we skipped school in the afternoon and went over to my place to listen to it on our crappy stereo system from Kmart before my parents got home. This came out when I was in high school. I was playing this album and getting ready to go out with my buddies. Unfortunately for me, my father was home... I didn't know he was home. Dad hated my musical choices. He walked in my bedroom, ripped the album off my turntable and smashed it, all he said was "don't play this filth in my house again or you and that record player will need a place to live!!!" 😅 I didn't realize he knew what they were saying 😅😅😅

@@AK00777 Every time I hear this song it takes me back of going to the roller skating rink back in 1979 when I was in 5th grade. When they played this song I would skate as fast as I could hanging those corners hoping not to wipe out. It was cool to hear Casey Kasem say that my Sharona was the number one song of 1979 according to billboard charts on his year end countdown. BTW you can listen to Casey’s weekly countdowns from the 70s and 80s on iHeart radio. If you get the chance view the live version on KZbin I think it’s way better than this studio version because they play the full guitar solo which is one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. IMO one of the happiest feel good songs of all time.

I agree the album version is much better the single edit. I hated the single 45 rpm edit version of a song. they usually butcher the best element of the song just to cut a minute or two back in the day. most songs run more 3 or 4 minutes long. get the dreaded butchering edit job in order to fit in a 45 rpm vinyl record. those edit would later renamed radio edit when vinyl phased out in the 90's. trimming the guitar solo was the must obnoxious way to cut the song down.
