The Stylistic have such a smooth blend and had many great songs. Can't get groups like this anymore.....what A shame! Congrats to your daughter and her accomplishment. My grandson started out at a young age too with sports and was always on the go. ( baseball, football, basketball and soccer).in city leagues and school teams. By the time he was in high school he had narrowed it down to football ( his greatest passion). He is now 24 and a rookie in the NFL with the L.A. Chargers. So, you just never know what life has in store and where it will take you or your children. With parents like you who support their interests, they will all follow their dreams and succeed. Producer writer and arranger Thom Bell was the magician behind the Stylistics success. He later produced the Spinners. The Stylistics was in reality lead singer Russell Tomkins Jr and the backing vocals were Philly writers and producers Thom Bell, Bunny Sigler Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The group who appeared on TV and in live shows were hired parts! The Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye cover version was a massive UK Top 5 pop hit in early 1974 but was never released in the USA.

You'll Never Get to Heaven if you Break my Heart is a fab Stylistics track. I fell in love with Paul Hibbert when I was 17. He used to sing that song to me 😊❤. Circumstance was not on our side and we broke up. We lived hundreds of miles apart and yet sometimes we would just bump into each other. Every time that happened it seemed nothing had changed. The love was there even though we couldn't be together. Time passed and I learned we would never bump into each other again. He died young. It was an unexpected ending. Listening to anything by the Stylistics reminds me of him. I listen to the track I mentioned often and I still miss him.

The Stylistics did the original song with Russel Thompkins Jr. doing the lead singing. The song was written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed.

...and the great music just keeps on coming. You posted this 9 hours ago (on a Monday) and it's already been watched 12,000 times before me. The Stylistics are excellent. I bought their greatest hits for this and for "You Make Me Feel Brand New," "Betcha By Golly, Wow" and "Break Up To Make Up."

When they were coming out with these masterpieces I lived in Germany and that was a very long time ago. To this very day, I still find their music to be some of the best ever and it never gets old to me. I would just say that they were in my opinion, one of the greatest bands of all time. They sure stir my heart when I hear them. Timeless!

Russel Tompkins is the lead. You have heard two of their beautiful hits. The next one just has to be You Make Me Feel Brand New. You won't be disappointed.

I keep trying to reach ouy to you two about the group (Switch) the two older brother of the group (DeBarge ) his falsetto's will blow your mind. Songs like ( I wanna be closer) I call your name) ( they'll never be ) and Bobby went solo ( you and i ) his falsetto's in that song are simply amazing. Bobby isbthe best in that family hands down . Sadly both brothers are gone but never forgotten.

Even tho we dated for several years, sadly, he married someone else. I was devastated. But...I'm still here. And I do know he's asked about me in years past.... It's all good....
