Thank goodness, we Italians still have great artists, past and present, who make us proud to be Italian. (besides food)

It’s from the left Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. Three of the best tenors ever in the opera world. The aria is from an opera called La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. It’s Italian. The conductor is Zubin Mehta. This is from the Three Tenors concert, done in 1994. There was the original 3 Tenors concert in 1990 in Rome to coincide with the Soccer World Cup. I’d suggest you play anything from those concerts, they’re all popular opera arias. You can also do Pavarotti singing Nessus Dorma, or Una Furtiva La Grima, or Vesti La Guibba. The last two are recorded in actual opera performances so it will show you what an opera is like. Jose Carreras in the middle is lucky to be alive. He had not been singing opera for long when he was diagnosed with leukaemia. He spent 10 months being treated, using his own bone marrow that they took from his body, cleaned and then reinjected. It was experimental but it cured him. When he came back to the stage his voice was not as good as it had been but he was lucky to be alive. The other two singers supported him when he was ill, phoning him and cheering him on. They are rivals, but also good friends. Pavarotti died in 2007. Placido Domingo is now in his late 80’s and is an opera conductor now. Jose Carreras is in his late 70’s and still sings the odd concert. Hi, loving your reactions. I'm from Handsworth back in the 80's and started getting into classical music like this when I was about 16 and even had a classical music channel if you'd like me to suggest more stuff like this 😊 I do also love my classic rock and pop of course which is why I'm enjoying your channel. Oh yeah, they are singing in Italian, Pavarotti was Italian and the other two are Spanish but all opera singers sing in Italian as most operas are in Italian but all of them. If your training to be an opera signer and aren't Italian you have to learn it along with french, German and maybe a bit of Russian as most great operas are sung in those languages. Maybe a really good song to try would be Pavarotti (the most famous opera singer ever!) singing 'una furtiva lagrima' which is a great intro to him at his best 😊

First is Luciano Pavarotti, the greatest tenor. Center is Jose Carres. Then Placido Domingo. Luciano passed away in 2007, at the age of 71, of pancreatic cancer. This entire concert is wonderful.

Incredibly talented men of my mother’s generation. They were singing opera in Italian. As you enjoy it, there is a millennial trio of the same genre. They are called … Il Volo. They also sing classic opera in Italian but they also sing contemporary music in English. They are young and surprising in the degree of talent. Their Christmas album is amazing!!! You can search: IL VOLO, O Solo Mia. Live performance with lyrics in English.

Or there is a great clip on YT of him singing 'vesti la guiba' from Pagliacci that has subtitles that is also pretty famous. Everyone will say do Nessum dorma which is great but so many reactors do that and nothing else which is a shame as there is much much more to hear from him.

If you'd just like to try some famous and popular classical music without singing in it maybe try John Williams playing 'concerto de aranjuez (2nd movement) on YT. That's a very popular place to start with classical music, it's a classical guitar concerto so you get an orchestra but with a guitar player instead of a singer 😊 or the 1st movement of Tchaikovsky piano concerto, also very famous and popular.

This is not "an opera song", as some people call it, nor is it an aria. It is a duet for tenor and soprano with chorus, but for the this concert the lines were divided up between all three tenors. Their first concert was supposed to be a one-off but since it became very, very popular which meant that lots of money could be made, they ended up making many appearances together, recording albums, basically becoming close to pop singers. If you want to experience the true magic of opera, don't listen to this. Listen to the old great ones singing arias, duets etc. in their original form. Someone in the comments mentioned Pavarotti singing "Nessun dorma", but Franco Corelli sang it better, with much more power: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIjSnJiiar6rg5o Or listen to and watch Maria Callas pouring an extreme amopunt of emotions into this aria from "Don Carlos": kzbin.info/www/bejne/mne5dausnJqHg68 You could also take a look at Joan Sutherland pouring her golden voice into the music of "La traviata", the opera which the Brindisi (meaning drinking song) you are reacting to here, comes from: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4uzeK2vZ6uMmbs

This performance of course is impressive, but that particular piece of music they were singing isn't that relatable emotionally to a lot of people. And it wasn't Nessun Dorma. But if you get a chance to actually listen to Nessun Dorma sung by Pavarotti, you would actually be amazed and you would likely be very emotional with that performance. Trust me - it has many, many reactors in tears. So it's a shame you started with this piece. Kinda boring if you're not an opera fan. But Nessun Dorma is very relatable emotionally. Please find it and try it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYjGaKmPn8yhitU

Stylistically yes. Nessun Dorma is much more impactful to a first listener of opera.

@@glass2467 Eso está bien, pero de ahí que esta canción sea aburrida, no lo comparto, en todo caso esta es más alegre que Nessun Dorma.
