Its about how the music industry treats it's musicians. The 'high heels' are referring to the cowboy boots a band member wore. "Low Spark" is now called swag.

This album is the one, over the years I purchased the most times. Three times I bought the LP record, once the cassette, also digital. Stevie Winwood is truly a great artist.

The amazing Traffic, this was a great epic, jazzy prog rock that only Traffic could conjure up. To see them live, look for Santa Monica 1972, a great set and they are as good live as the studio leads you to believe. Steve Winwood! Saw them twice, they were an utter trip. Enjoy. 🎵🎤🎹🎷🎸🎶

I’ve seen Traffic in concert several times they were great. Steve Winwood singer/songwriter/ multi instrumentalist solo career is really something to listen to. Also, his time with super group Blind Faith.

I think it's more about the greed of some that makes them live above their income and the people who charge high interest rates to capitalize on it. I have no idea what the title refers to but my reaction has always been the same as yours. Great song! The piano and beat hypnotize and the sax takes you on various flights.

You will never understand this song, until you understand street slang in drug communities circa 1960s & 70s. The low spark was the rush experienced by speedballers. A speedball was a blending of heroin (street name, the boy) and a stimulate (most often cocaine, street name the girl). When you mixed the two you had a high healed boy. The man who bought a car with your dreams was a dealer. The gun that killed with no bullets or noisr was the speedball. There is a possible double meaning here to include the record industry. Everyone wore the superfly platforms and high heals back in the day.
