All I Do Is Think Of You was released as the third single from Troop's 1989 album: Attitude. It was written by Michael Lovesmith and Brian Hollandand. It was produced by Chuckii Booker. The song reached #1 on the R&B chart and #47 on the Hot 100. The music video was directed by Dick Buckley. Steve Russell and Allen McNeil is the co-lead singers on this song. They appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show, Soul Train and It's Showtime At The Apollo performing this song. This song is a cover of The Jackson 5's 1975 song. Corey (2002) and B-5 (2005) also covered this song. The Troop's version of the song appeared in the 2016 film 📽: Almost Christmas, and in the 2017 tv series 📺: The Breaks. Troop Info 📰: Troop is a R&B group from Pasadena, California. TROOP is an acronym for "Total Respect Of Other People". Troop, originally consisted of childhood friends Steve Russell, Allen McNeil, John Harreld, Rodney Benford and Reggie Warren. The group has had three number-one singles and six other top-twenty singles on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. They have released five albums, which include three certified Gold and one certified Platinum album. The group is most notable for a series of number one R&B hit songs: "All I Do Is Think Of You" and "Sweet November", originally performed by musical acts The Jackson 5 and The Deele, respectively. They also had a number-one R&B hit with the original song: "Spread My Wings". The group got its start performing in local talent shows then in 1985 they won a lip-syncing talent contest on the television show: Puttin' On The Hits, performing New Edition's 1984 song: Cool It Now. That televised performance, as well as other performances in talent shows drew some interest from record label representatives. They eventually signed to Atlantic Records and in 1986 but Steve Russell and John Harreld had to finish high school before their parents would allow them to pursue music full time. In 1988, Troop released their debut single: "Mamacita", from their self-titled debut album in 1988. The group's song: "Mamacita", reached Number 2 on the R&B Chart and was written and produced by Gerald LeVert and Marc Gordon from the R&B group LeVert. Two other singles from Troop's debut album would chart as well: "My Heart" (#9 R&B) and Still In Love (#19 R&B). Steve Russell and Allen McNeil sang all of the song leads on Troop's first album which caused some tension within the group early on especially with John Harreld. Troop's second album: Attitude (1989), included the hit singles: "Spread My Wings" and "All I Do Is Think Of You" , which both went to number one on the Billboard R&B singles chart, and remained in the top 10 for several weeks. Attitude was certified Platinum in 1990. The group would perform on Soul Train, It's Showtime At The Apollo, The Late Show With David Letterman and The Arsenio Hall Show promoting songs from their first two albums. In 1991 troop was featured in the film: New Jack City, singing a cappella in a scene from the movie. Additionally, the group appeared on the New Jack City movie soundtrack with Queen Latifah and LeVert, in a medley featuring cover versions of the O'Jays' song: "For the Love Of Money" and Stevie Wonder's song: "Living For The City". The group's third album: Deepa, was released in 1992, and included the single: "Sweet November", which reached number one on the R&B chart and number 53 on the Hot 100. The album's second single: "Whatever It Takes (To Make You Stay)", reached number 12 on the R&B chart and number 63 on the Hot 100, but the album's third released single: "Give It Up", failed to chart. The group followed up with the album: A Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' (1994), which featured only three group members in the album credits and on the album cover including a new group member named Demetrius "Mech" Shipp along with original group members Steve Russell and Allen McNeil. No information is available as to why John Harreld, Reggie Warren and Rodney Benford were not on the album. The album had one charting single: "Do Me" (#78 R&B). In 1997, John Harreld as John John And The Originals released the single: Bullets Don't Have No Names. Troop's next album: Mayday (1998), had all five original group members back in the fold but only produced one charting single: "The Way I Parlay" (#65 R&B). After the release of Troop's album: Mayday (1998), the group took an amicable hiatus as individual members worked behind the scenes on various writing and producing projects, collaborations, and other business endeavors. Steve Russell (writer, producer, background vocals) has had the most success outside of the group working with many different artists including: Jordin Sparks, B2K, Mario, 3LW, Charlie Wilson, LSG, 702, Tank, Chris Brown, Tyrese, Jennifer Hudson, Monica, Aretha Franklin, B-5, Musiq Soulchild, Toni Braxton, Keith Sweat and more. In 2004, Troop regrouped and began touring the United States and working together on their sixth album but it was never completed. In 2010, Steve Russell released his debut solo album: So Random, which is the first release from his own record label: Motel Music Media. In 2010, Allen McNeil also released his debut solo album: Hybernation. He would release his sophomore solo album: Send For Me, in 2011. Troop once again went inactive for a few years but occasionally recorded and toured together. In 2013, they released a group single titled: "Forever". In 2014, TV One produced an Unsung segment on Troop's musical career. In 2018, Steve Russell and Allen McNeil covered Michael Jackson's song: Lady In My Life and filmed a music video for the song which can be found on Steve Russell's YT channel: BlaqBox Films. On March 14, 2021, Troop group member Reggie Warren passed away 🙏🏾at his home in Pasadena, California, after battling an extended health illness. He was 52 years old. No information on his burial details is available. In 2021, Steve Russell as Steven Russell Harts directed a television series called: Day Ones, and it is available to watch on Tubi and on his YT channel: BlaqBox Films. In 2022, Steven Russell Harts produced a 5 part documentary: "Tales Of A Boy Band: The Story Of Troop", it was released and is currently available to watch on Tubi. All 5 group members: Allen McNeil, John Harreld, Rodney Benford, Steve Russell and *Reggie Warren (*there was a limited interview segment with Reggie Warren but he passed away before he could be interviewed and speak on his story in full detail) and were interviewed concerning the group Troop and what really went on behind the scenes from their individual perspectives. In 2022, Steve Russell under the name Steven Russell Harts released the single/music video for his song: "So Close". Troop group members Steve Russell (Steven Russell Harts), John Harreld and Allen McNeil still put out music on digital music sites like Apple Music, Spotify and the like. Troop still performs their music live on stage on 2023 and are active on various social media sites.
