Eli rhymes with belly. 🙂 He's an amazing rock tenor, but also sings baritone and even bass, and also works as a voice actor outside of the group, and is responsible for the lighting design in their videos as well as creating a lot of the 3D background images in their videos, and on occasion he does some arrangements as well. Geoff (Jeff) is the bass, he can also sing baritone and tenor, he can beatbox, he is one of 2 main arrangers in the group, and he also has a very successful solo channel. Layne is the beatboxer, he can also sing tenor, baritone and bass, he is one of 2 main arrangers in the group, and runs a video production studio with a former VoicePlay member. Cesar (see-sir) is the baritenor and the newest member of the group, and performs on multiple stages in the Orlando area outside of VoicePlay 🙂

I'm a big fan of all 3 big acapella groups (PTX, Home Free and VoicePlay), but VP is my favorite. They do almost everything themselves ... arranging, filming, editing, lighting, etc. They do use a great audio mixer, and occasionally a pro makeup artist for their more elaborate visuals. They are so unique and creative, and every voice is phenomenal.

its spelled just like mine but mine is pronounced "ee-lie" its funny because he has an opposite range of mine, I am a low baritone. I can get real low (D2 chest normally, sometimes down to A1, A0 growl, D1 chest fry, B0 subharmonic, F0 fry) but my highest falsetto note is only like a G5 on a good day. I am not a natural bass but I am most comfortable between E2 and F4 I would say.

Definitely check out their collaboration with Omar Cardona of Aerosmith's 'dream on' - it is different but amazing, 'hoist the colors' from pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite of the more theatrical covers and 'boy bands in 5 mins' is great for a good giggle and to get a better appreciation of their ability to transition, this last one is older so there are 2 previous band members who are AMAZING also. Great reaction, loved it. 🙂 If you want to really enjoy Geoff's bass voice, AND you're a gamer, there's a number of possible suggestions: "My Mother Told Me" (Assassins creed V - Vikings), "The Dragonborn comes" (Skyrim), "Halo Theme" (well, from Halo 😁), praised even by the author of the score himself and having a long explanation of the reasons behind the video at the end that is TOTALLY worth the while... And others, I believe also "Warriors" (another Imagine Dragons cover, in which Wayne and J None play violin and they're great), comes from some game. And if you aren't a gamer, well, "Hoist the Colours" is a must, IMHO. 🙂 But you can't miss with them ❤. Also, Geoff Castellucci, the bass singer, has a solo channel in which he does incredible "Low Bass singer covers", beginning from "Far over the Misty Mountains cold" (from The Hobbit) to "Ain't no sunshine" (Bill Withers) to grant classics like "Blackbird" (Beatles) or "House of the Raising Sun" and may others. 🙂

Alexa, born in Oklahoma, asked if she could perform with them but Covid restrictions kept her home so she did her part from South Korea where she lives and sent it in. Eli is also a computer whiz (also did the backgrounds for My Mother Told Me) and merged her part into the whole. Earlier Alexa had won Best American Song so she is definitely credentialed. Some others you might enjoy are Warriors (do first Imagine Dragons), then Dream On (Aerosmith) Geoff calls this one Warriors 2. Also Tennesee Whiskey, Carry On My Wayward Son, We're Good and It Ain't Me. Geoff's just wonderful no matter what he sings, try Blackbird (Beatles), High and Dry (Radiohead), and Ain't No Sunshine (Bill Withers). If you want one recorded but done live, see their comedy routine, Road Trip from the days of The Sing-Off. Make sure you get the one with 9 million views. It's over that now - still going up. From the Sing-Off as well is Play That Funky Music with Honey Rochelle.

Alexa was in South Korea filming her part of this while the guys were in Orlando Florida where they live. She sent them the film and Layne added her to the video. They did the same with their last Halloween video "Hide and Seek (Ding Dong)". Lauren Paley was in Nashville TN. Layne flew there to film her then added her to the video. That one is really good. The theme is The Haunted Mansion at Disney. They dress up as characters from the ride. Makeup, costumes, settings, everything. They are known as both The Theater Kids and The Kings of Halloween because their love of dressing up and performing. In The Hall Of The Mountain King is another awesome video. They dress up there as well. The music piece comes from an orchestra. It's amazing what they do with it. Lots of bass in that one.

It’s Eli (to rhyme with jelly), short for Eliezer (el-Lee-AY-zer)(the second son of Moses). Eli probably has the most versatile voice although Geoff (bass) and Layne (beatboxer) have wider ranges (5octaves), but not by much. Eli has fronted a number of rock bands and also worked (works?) as a voice actor. For that reason, check out Hoist the Colours from Pirates 3 - probably still my favorite of theirs. Another good one is Carry on Wayward Son. For high notes, Dream On, Dragonborn/Skyrim and Superstition come to mind.

As a gamer dude, I think you'll really enjoy Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim, The Halo Theme (Geoff's lowest recorded note, he hits B0 more than once), My Mother Told Me from Assassin's Creed, and just for kicks, the ACA Top 10 Video Games. VoicePlay lineup has changed over the years. Tony Wakim, their baritone, quit performing to run PattyCake Productions with Layne, the beatboxer, in 2016. VP and Geoff Castellucci film a lot of their videos at Pattycake. They brought in J. None for a few years but he left when he was recruited to sing for the Navy, though he's done several videos with them while home on leave. Their sky-high tenor, Earl, left in 2020. They brought in Cesar (see-sir) as bari/tenor. Historically VoicePlay has been an all-male quintet with frequent collaborators. In their current quartet line-up, they effectively have four tenors, four baritones, and at least two basses and two beatboxers. With his vocal effects, technically Layne the beatboxer has the highest and lowest range, but for singing range I think Geoff has him beat with access to about five octaves. You can date VoicePlay videos by the group lineup and the length of Geoff's hair. As others have said, Layne and Geoff take turns arranging most of their songs, and whoever arranges also takes lead on producing the video. They don't have a producer, manager, or production team -- they do it all themselves, with help from Geoff's wife Kathy as production manager. Being from Orlando and having performed at various theme parks over the years, they have earned their nickname "theater kids of a capella." They're all good, but some of the more epic videos are Hoist the Colors, Oogie Boogie's Song, We Don't Talk About Bruno, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Dream On, Butter (for goofy fun), and Queen in Five Minutes. And they dance in Boy Bands Medley. Their ACA Top 10 videos were recorded live in a studio, but I think their only professionally recorded performances with an audience is Road Trip and Survivor: Zombies vs Hillbillies (a duet with Home Free), both from The Sing-Off tour. There's a decent audience-recorded version of Elvira from January 2020, and The Chicken Song in MN in 2014. Those two show off their sense of humor as well as vocals. To dip your toe in Geoff's solo channel, try Ghost Riders in the Sky or Misty Mountains Cold.

You said you want to see it live? AleXa wasn't even in the same country, she mailed her video and audio tracks in from South Korea!! Just about anything is recommended to listen/react to when it comes to VoicePlay, so I will automatically second any song other commenters highlight. They haven't had many misses because they take what they put out seriously, even though they can be a bit silly (carrots, anyone?) so you really can't go wrong with any selection. They have a few clips of live performances fans have put up over the years so I can recommend "The Chicken Song" and their "Road Trip" skit from the Sing-Off Tour to give you a feel for their humor. Others have also mentioned that Geoff has a solo channel where he does low bass covers of several genres of music, with the accompaniment of keyboard and/or plugins, I'd start off with "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and Elvis's "Way Down" to get a taste there. Interesting tid-bit is that he does all the backing vocals himself so you can hear the connectedness of his full range. Layne (percussion) also has a separate channel with a former member of VP, Tony Wakim, where they do serials and one offs of Disney material, Horror music videos, and so on. It's very entertaining and has original music and great set work and costuming. Whichever path down the rabbit hole you take, know they have a tight fan-base who support many of the reactors/analyzers who regularly post their releases.

VoicePlay's videos are awesome, especially if you're into theatrics. I thoroughly enjoy watching them when they come out with something new. The only thing that I struggle with is that I have yet to find a video where they sound great live. All superb vocalists on their own but not my favorite when it comes to a capella blending, which is what I'm drawn to in groups like these. Will that keep me from enjoying their videos and music? Heck no! Always so creative.

Check out their newly released mini “Chili’s Baby Back Ribs” or something like that, I think that one’s live (but not with audience), they filmed it on a parking lot.

Wanna really blow your mind? Alexa isn't even in the same continent as the guys! Lock down found her in Korea, with the band based in Florida, half a world away! Eli, the tenor, is noted for his "metal" voice. Geoff, the bass, has surprising range of the better part of 5 octaves!

That part where Eli went high, Alexa went higher, and you said was followed by the bass? That was the beat boxer, not the bass.

Voice Play does a live performance of.. Made You Look. It was done in the Mall after hours. It is awesome. Please react to that one too. It is a short about 1 minute long. But please do Dream On by Voice Play first, please ❤️

Their minis and their ACA top tens are done live - though they sometimes need multiple attempts since they have so much fun with them.
