@micht6888 Blackie is Native American, probably more than a 1/4 as you stated, though he is related to a baseball player, he had relatives who walked on the trail of tears, and that is confirmed.

Blackie was one crazy person. Their stage shows in the early days were crazy, theatrical like Alice Cooper and KISS. They have songs like Animal (F*ck Like a Beast) and Shoot From the Hip. Blackie would actually put a cod piece around his "junk" and fireworks would shoot out from it. One night it backfired and singed his leg hair around his thighs. He went on record by saying "it was like taking a Louisville slugger bat and swinging as hard as you can."

I saw W.A.S.P. in 85 with Metallica as the opening band. Back then Blackie would throw raw meat in the audience and he poured blood in himself. The blood was in a skull after pouring it on himself he'd then shake the rest of it on the front row. He also threw posters in the audience too. That was a pretty good 20th birthday.

That is correct about the Indians. Blackie Lawless, the singer is part Cherokee.

Kathy, you are right about Blackie Lawless (the vocalist and guy in the pics) is very hardcore. You started W.A.S.P. very slow. LOL I discovered them back in 1983, and it was love at first hear. L.O.V.E. Machine kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKDZo4N9eNegb6s Another great one from their second album. Wild Child kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqTSfZVjepyir5o Those two songs will pretty much let you know who W.A.S.P. is, but they have so so so many great songs and though the tempos change and some go deeper than others, Blackie's voice is unmistakable.

IMO, W.A.S.P. were, by far, musically the best of any of those 80 Sunset Strip bands. Especially once you get to The Headless Children' , where they just left everyone else in the dust. Blackie was writing about nuclear annihilation, war and political corruption while all those other bands were still writing about dragons and their d!cks. They never stopped putting out great albums, even though the 90s, the 00s and beyond. Most of those bands fell away and stopped recoding new music. Blackie, on the other hand, has put out a lot of his very best in the last 25 years.

This is an obscure song by WASP from 2002 - the underrated album 'Dying for the world'... Odd someone would ask for this one... WASP frontman Blackie Lawless (real name Steve Duren) started on vocals & bass when he formed WASP in the early 80's w/ Chris Holmes (guitar) and were championed by Iron Maiden and their management. Their first single "Animal (F+++ like a beast)" caused quite an outrage 😁 WASP were more controversial of the 80's 'hair metal' bands... They wore makeup and used props and looked really terrifying in the L.A. scene (WASP allegedly stood for "We Are Sexual Perverts" 😂) releasing their debut album in 1984... followed by 'The last command' in 1985 which yielded the MTV hit 'Wild child'... 3rd album 'Inside the electric circus' in 1986 was followed by a stellar live album "Live in the raw" in 1987 w/ the studio single "Harder, faster"... Blackie Lawless switched to guitar & vocals for the WASP album 'The headless children' in 1989 w/ both Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali and Uriah Heep's Ken Hensley contributing to the record. Guitarist Chris Holmes left WASP in 1991, so Blackie Lawless recorded and released the concept album 'The Crimson Idol' in 1992, a stellar record w/ the songs - 'Arena of pleasure'... 'Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)"... However, the grunge rock era decimated WASP's popularity in the 90's. WASP returned in 1995 w/ 'Still not Black enough'... Guitarist Chris Holmes returned in 1997 for the controversial album "Kill f+++ die"... followed by the albums 'Helldorado' in 1999 and 'Unholy Terror' in 2000... Chris Holmes left WASP again and has not had any contact w/ Blackie Lawless since... WASP released 'Dying for the world' in 2002... followed by 2 concept albums - 'The Neon God -Part 1: The Rise' (2003) and 'The Neon God - Part 2: The Demise' in 2004. Despite some rather sub-par albums afterwards, WASP has been successful in Europe and have recently started touring N. America actively again.

Wasp has two styles for you to pick from. The first is the 80s metal Alice Cooper motley Crue style wer they talk about sex, the devil etc. then you got the more mature albums 89 and after closer to queensryche iron maiden style talking about religion, drug abuse, politics, etc.. this song your reacting to is from 2002 which yes there are heavier songs I recommend MY WICKED HEART next. But yes wasp does ballads but there dark emotional haunting ballads not bon Jovi ballads ha.. but yes wasp is very divers n has 15 albums. They are one the most underrated bands for sure. Blackie lawless the lead singer writes n produces most of the songs. My alltime fav band tho

W.A.S.P. - Golgotha (Official Lyric Video) A must to do Guys
@BlackieNuff2 ай бұрын
Oh, there is DEFINITELY MORE to these guys than this. Be careful about the live stuff, lol - you may not be prepared for it (visually, that is)! To start you out a little easier, check out live stuff from 1986-1996 - they were a little tamer during this period. Live at the Lyceum 1984 was one of their most notorious shows - blood, raw meat, sawblade codpieces, half-naked women on a torture rack... shock rock that would give Alice Cooper nightmares. Those early days are only rivaled/outdone by the much darker shows between 1997 and 2000, which made the Lyceum look like a bubblegum pop concert. They started out angry and wild (1982-1985), then got a little more commercial (1986-1988) before getting more serious and contemplative with more social/political commentary (1989-1996). Then they went ultra dark (1997-1999), then back to the "serious and political" (2000-2003), before adding a more "spiritual" direction (2004-present). Some starters for you : - 1984 - I Wanna Be Somebody • The Torture Never Stops • Hellion • On Your Knees • Sleeping In The Fire • L·O·V·E Machine • Animal - 1985 - Blind In Texas • The Last Command • Cries In The Night • Widowmaker • Wild Child - 1986 - The Big Welcome / Inside The Electric Circus • Alive • 95-NASTY • Restless Gypsy • Sweet Cheetah - 1987 - Scream Until You Like It - 1989 - The Heretic (The Lost Child) • Thunderhead • Mean Man • Maneater • Forever Free - 1992 - The Titanic Overture • The Invisible Boy (Who Am I) • Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Morgue) • The Idol • Hold On To My Heart - 1995 - Goodbye America • Scared To Death • Skinwalker • Black Forever • Still Not Black Enough • Holding On • Breathe - 1997 - Take The Addiction • Wicked Love - 1999 - Driveby / Helldorado - 2001 - Unholy Terror (Charisma) • Raven Heart • Let It Roar • Euphoria - 2002 - Black Bone Torso / To Hell For Eternity • My Wicked Heart • Shadow Man • Revengeance • -Trail Of Tears- • Hallowed Ground [Acoustic Mix] - 2004 - Asylum No 9 • XTC Riders • What I'll Never Find • The Raging Storm • Never Say Die • Come Back To Black - 2007 - Heaven's Hung In Black (with reprise) • Long Long Way To Go • Mercy - 2009 - Crazy • Babylon Is Burning - 2015 - Miss You • Golgotha (I Need You Now) - 2017 - Michael's Song / Miss You Covers (1984-2009) : Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones) • Mississippi Queen (Mountain) • I Don't Need No Doctor (Humble Pie) • Easy Living (Uriah Heep) • Locomotive Breath (Jethro Tull) • The Real Me (The Who) • When The Levee Breaks (Led Zeppelin) • Somebody To Love (Jefferson Airplane) • Tie Your Mother Down (Queen) • Whole Lotta Rosie (AC/DC) • It's A Long Way To The Top (AC/DC) • Saturday Night Is Alright (Elton John) • Burn (Deep Purple) • Promised Land (Chuck Berry)
