WayV is a Chinese boy band by SM Entertainment. It is the fourth and first non-Korean-speaking subgroup of the South Korean boy band NCT. The group consists of 7 members.😉

The guy whose voice you really liked is called Xiaojun! He is a main vocalist and has done a lot of covers, you could check those out if you’re interested! WayV is a subunit of the group NCT, and the main difference between WayV and other NCT subunits is that they sing predominantly in Mandarin, while the others sing predominantly in Korean. All of WayV are of Chinese descent, but some are of different nationalities (for example Ten, the guy leading the dance at 4:47, is Thai). They have released some of their b-sides in English though, Love Talk and Bad Alive, and I would recommend you to check those out! Thanks for the reaction.

Hi. To avoid confusion about WayV, they are the fourth sub-unit of the kpop boy group NCT, based in China. The reason why they can't freely promote in Korea (and in China with their korean branding) because of the political issue between China & Korea. They are under Label V which is the chinese label of SM Entertainment. There are 7 chinese members in WayV (all of chinese descent) but only 3 of them are from mainland China (the other members are from Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan/Germany). Before the debut of WayV on 2019, 4 out of 7 members are part of NCT U and NCT 127. To summarize: NCT (the brand) is under SM Ent. As of 2021 they have 23 members (only 10 of them are koreans and 13 are the foreigners). They don't have fixed number of members on NCT (as a whole) because they keep adding more members. There are 4 sub-units under NCT. 1. NCT 127 - debuted on 2016 with fixed 10 members (only in 2019 that one member is not promoting with this group because he debuted with WayV). 2. NCT U - the rotational unit (anyone from NCT can join this group depending on who fits the concept of the song). 3. NCT Dream - the teenage unit of NCT (all youngsters are in this group) they debuted on 2016 with 7 fixed members. Their oldest at that time is 17 and their youngest is 14. This 2021 their youngest turns 20 so all of the members (Dream and NCT as a whole) are all adults now. 5. WayV -the fourth and chinese unit of NCT debuted on 2019. The brand name NCT has three Korean sub units: NCT U, NCT DREAM and NCT 127, and one Chinese sub unit: Way V. It’s a new concept. All units together are NCT, trained and managed in Korea by SMEntertainment (in China, WayV is under Label V, a subsidiary of SM). Way V sings in Chinese, and the members are either Chinese, or Thai/Chinese. The other three sub units sing in Korean, but the members aren’t all Korean; there are American, Canadian, Japanese and Chinese members also. Welcome to the NCT Universe.

I really liked your reaction. This is the best group in NCT, in my opinion. You should check out Monsta X. I suggest Shootout, Alligator, Love Killa, Gambler, Rush Hour and their latest release Love. I think you enjoy them.

To answer your question about Kpop. Kpop is just popular music in South Korea, and is partially defined by the extreme diversity of music styles that are often blended together. So even if it doesn't sound like what we in the US would call Pop, it's all categorized under that umbrella. In fact, it is more a label of the industry and its methods of creation and management of these groups rather than a music genre in and of itself. As others have mentioned WayV is the Mandarin-speaking subunit of NCT, more geared toward the Chinese market, and could be considered Cpop (Chinese) or Mpop (Mandarin), but they are managed under a Kpop company, so it's not entirely incorrect to call them that also, as it has all of the traits of a Kpop group, but just sings in a different language.
