I majored in psychology too so I recognized the Rorschach Inkblot test in the TEMPO and the MV ended with the EXO logo (speedometer). In OBSESSION, EXO are battling with their evil alter ego. All EXO MVs are interconnected into their lore.
@milindawilson91754 ай бұрын
What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, Chen uses his ability to control electricity (because he has the power of thunder and lightning) to manipulate something to do with the TVs that are playing behind him and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end we see the planet on fire because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO, you need to be aware that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it's how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM Entertainment does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, if you haven't yet, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote as EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. Therefore, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have created a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love, compassion and respect, etc. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. And we now think it is linked to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV, where we see a meteor on a collision course for Earth and EXO are trying to figure out how to prevent it from destroying the world. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those all-black outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs, which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV (now a solo artist) -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 🌊Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light. 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force. ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening, as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind. EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost). 🦄Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity. (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group.) The Chinese members who are no longer part of the group, but are still an important part of EXO's storyline: 🐉Kris was the leader of EXO-M and he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon (Kris left the group in April 2014.) 💭Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis -- the ability to control things with his mind. (Luhan left the group in October 2014.) ⏲Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time. (Tao ended activities with EXO in August 2015.)

11:43 Unfortunately XIUMUN and D.O were in the military at this point when OBSESSION came out 11:58 Not KAI in a crop top but SUHO nearly shirtless 👻☠️ as well 15:49 Lol 😅 EXO group storyline and concept is they’re Aliens with Elemental Superpowers, it would make more sense if you watch their debut MAMA MV with lengthy Intro that briefly explains their backstory. *XIUMIN-Frost, SUHO-Water, LAY-Healing, BAEKHYUN-Light, CHEN-Lightning, CHANYEOL-Flame, D.O-Earth, KAI-Teleportation and SEHUN-Wind.* In beginning there were 12 members but between 2014-2016 three Chinese members left KriS-Dragon, #LUHAN -Time, and #TAO - Omg dont remember. 15:59 Well in my observation long story short they’re fighting their inner-demons but here its being displayed as them fighting against the Red Force clones (EXO vs X-EXO) that were made from when they caught captured in their MVs LOTTO & LUCKY ONE. This song is toward all the of the toxicity of SASANEGS, ANTis (fake fans) as well as corrupt media to stop their lies of spreading rumors and manipulated news about them. 19:39 The WOLF MV, I know it has to do with the TREE OF LIFE since they open up in the form of the tree maybe alternate universe but Its been so long that I don’t remember what the meaning was behind this specific concept because it was very random and they even had a two-episode mini drama called WOLF on youtube that goes with it. 25:17 There is a Chinese version to this as well as many of their older songs have both Korean & Chinese versions and when the MVs came out, they didn’t have available subtitles.

The cube from tempo appears in Love Shot. Is an artifact from the red forces who are the natural enemies of EXO. the red forces appears in different shapes: the red cube, the droid RF-5 in Power, the girl droids-nurses from Lucky one, the X-EXO (exo's clones) in obsession. Since mama EXO'S concept is that they are aliens with superpowers that were sent to earth by their Mama(majesty/deity) to protect us from the evil of the red forces that try to destroy the tree of life and steal EXO'S superpowers. Wolf, growl, love me right belongs to the parallel universe part were they are high school students and american football players that can turn into wolves. Growl and wolf have very similar lyrics. Each member has their unique superpowers and they appear constantly in mvs, lyrics and dance moves in their choreography. In concerts too. For example Chanyeol is our firebender😅 he tends to have choreography moves that makes the fire effects and fireworks starts or Suho who powers are water, makes rain start on stage (EXO has a lot of very wet stages live😅)EXO'S Superpowers: 💧Suho: water ❄Xiumin: frost 🌷Lay: healing 🌟Baekhyun: Light ⚡Chen: lighting/thunder 🔥🐉Chanyeol fire/phoenix and flight/dragon ( obtained after 1 ex member left it can be seen in his teaser for Electric kiss and is the reason his powers went out of control) by the way his solo debut is this 28 with the song "Black out" please check it out. ☄D O: Earth/force/ gravity ( technically called Force but he has earth powers similar to gravitational forces) 🌀Kai: teleportation and telekinesis ( obtained when his counterpart from exo-m left) 🌪⏳Sehun: wind and time control ( same as Kai and Chanyeol. He used to stop time in concerts) One theory says that in Tempo the cube is keeping them in a temporal cyclic prison dimension and supposedly they went out from it in Love shot. In obsession they are fighting their doppelgangers. Wolf is like a fairy tale, kind of like the bad wolf from red ridding hood. He fell in love with the beauty but when the pack finds out they tell him to off her so he won't be weak but because he loves the beauty he goes against the pack. In monster one theory say is the time the red forces captured them, other one say is actually an illusion and those are the clones being train to pass for the real ones. In reality we all have only theories cause SM is not giving us the true story, and now that Lee Soo man left sm we may never have the full story

EXO's "Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV. Like everything EXO does, the story in the MV is another chapter in EXO's storyline and it explains a little more of what EXO is doing here on Earth. As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." Therefore, the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also was supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is also red, which means that it most likely represents something to do with the Red Force. However, if you pay attention to the lyrics, you see in the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. Which could be a metaphor for EXO's connection to the heart of the Tree of Life. Yet again, the woman in EXO's songs is often thought to be a metaphor and physical representation of the Tree of Life. That is why the members are always trying to save the girl or protect her, or they talk about being controlled by the power of the woman or they are worried about their passion destroying her, etc. It's EXO's job to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force. EXO was sent to Earth on a mission to find the two halves of the tree and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. The two halves of the tree -- EXO-K (Korean) represents one half and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) represents the other half -- were originally separated in order to keep the Red Force from gaining control. However, now, in order to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, EXO needs to defeat the Red Force and find where the two halves of the tree have been hidden. Therefore, the story in the "Monster" is all about EXO's origin story and about how they are trying to stop the Red Force from corrupting humanity, while also trying to find clues to where the Tree of Life is located. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography we see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When we see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography we see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. We see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because he has the power to control fire. Sehun's superpower is the ability to control wind, so during his parts, we see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. (Lay has the power of healing and Chen has the power of Thunder and Lightning, so I am sure their powers are also represented in the dance, however, I'm not sure the specific move.) And the part where they are sitting on the ground with their one knee in the air as they rotate is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch their "Lotto" MV, just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto". How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force. "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why we see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out about EXO, so they are trying to keep a low profile. As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO -- EXO's alter ego clones -- and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.) We also see Lay, EXO's Chinese member, crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured. Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" we also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai, who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation, he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc. As you just saw in "Obsession," the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO, and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession" -- which is one of EXO's more recent releases -- we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time. As you can see, EXO's story is always evolving and changing, and just when you think you have one part understood, SM introduces a new piece of the story and changes the direction of the narrative. Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order. So, you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections.

"Wolf" was EXO's first comeback since their debut promotions and it came out in May 2013 as part of their XOXO album, so you will see all 12 members in this MV. "Wolf" was another one of EXO's songs that the mainstream public thought SM was making an even bigger mistake with. It was a song and concept that was too unique for most mainstream listeners when it first came out, and most people didn't really like the song or the MV. However, as many have discovered, it's one of those songs that once you listen to it more, it grows on you, and now it has become much more popular. When EXO had 12 members, they were all involved in both versions of their MVs. However, the EXO-K members were featured more prominently in the EXO-K versions and they were the ones that sang the main parts of the songs, but if you watch the EXO-M version you will see that the EXO-M members are the ones highlighted in the MV and EXO-M sings the main parts of the song. EXO's slogan is "We are One," which means they are one as a group and one with their fans, so even when they had separate sub-units, they were meant to be one group. What you see in the beginning of the MV is that all 12 members come together to form the Tree of Life and, in the middle of the song, we see how they split up into EXO-K and EXO-M and each group creates their own tree. How I interpenetrate that is they are showing how the tree has now been split in half and each half of the tree represents the two halves of EXO. In the intro to their debut "Mama" MV they talk about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. As aliens from Planet Exo, it's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. You should also check out the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version of their "Wolf" MV to see what the song sounds like in Mandarin and to discover how the MV is slightly different. In "Wolf" the members are supposed to be a wolf pack. So, the entire MV and the song is them acting like wolves. The walls and ceiling in the MV all say EXO, because as a wolf pack, they are supposed to be inside EXO's cave or the pack's den, etc. (Which some theories have pointed to, could be connected to SuperM's "Tiger Inside" MV.) The choreography was created to use movements that made them seem like wolves, and the moves, such as them showing their claws and bristling their backs and shaking are all things that wolves do as they compete for power and attention, etc. The wolf comes out of the forest (as he scratches the ground behind the Tree of Life) in the beginning of the MV and he is stalking his prey. Their prey is the girl that, in the song, they are talking about being so obsessed with and in love with that they can't help but act like a wolf and capture her so that no one else can have her, etc. In EXO's songs and MVs it is often thought that the girl that EXO sings about is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life. So, that is why EXO becomes so enamored by her and so possessive and protective of her, etc. Protecting the heart of the Tree of Life -- or "the girl" -- is what EXO has been sent to Earth to do. I'm not sure how this concept was supposed to fit into EXO's larger storyline, but many feel that after the 3 Chinese members -- Kris, Luhan and Tao -- left the group that the wolf part of the story was completely dropped and it is no longer part of EXO's story. So, we just watch it as a fun side story now instead. If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song, you see they are talking about being a wolf. The main point of the song is they are saying, I'm a wolf, I'm a wolf and I love you so fiercely that I am going to capture you and possess you and devour you like the wolf that I am. However, the song itself isn't necessarily just about being a wolf, it also has elements that connect it to EXO's storyline. If you are impressed with EXO's vocals in the MV, just wait until you see the live concert remix performance of the song. You will be even more blown away when you hear what they can do live, kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2m4loaMnM6Lo6s. "Growl" is the follow up song to "Wolf. "Growl" was the song that was the lead track on the XOXO repackaged album, which came out in August 2013. Once you have seen both "Growl" and "Wolf," you should check out EXO's "Growl"/"Wolf" Drama video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXemp42LiNOoq9U. Watching the drama also might help to explain more of the story in their "Wolf" MV. However, as I said, I'm not sure the story goes any further than being mostly just a fun side story now. Fun fact: Kris' eyes turning red will make more sense once you watch the drama version. On top of being aliens they -- Kris and Luhan in particular, and maybe Lay -- also are wolves. Just watch the short drama video to see what I mean.

The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo is intentionally a prominent part of the song. I think the tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV and be the driving force spurring them on in the story. However, if you read the lyrics, you see that in the song they are talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. (The underlying theme of the song is a tongue and cheek reference to sexual innuendo.) On the surface, the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on. As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the acapella part in the song. Fun fact: There wasn't supposed to be an acapella section in the song. The members were just messing around in the recording studio riffing with each other and the sound engineer loved it so much that they decided to put it in the song. "Tempo" came out in 2018, so there are 9 members in this MV. (Only 8 members are in the group scenes.) This is special because it's the first time we have seen Lay, EXO's Chinese member, participate in anything with EXO since 2016 and you won't see him again in another EXO project until their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV in 2021. However, although Lay was in this MV, you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version, but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version. To understand the choices being made in this song and the story in the MV, you have to be aware that everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 11+ years -- since pre-debut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it's showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc. They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we see them in their "Overdose" MVs. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. As mentioned, the maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times. Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside. You see Chanyeol (one of the main rappers) being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted. Also notice how the inkblot looks like it's shaped like a butterfly. The butterfly is also an important part of SM's Culture Universe storyline. We see a butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MVs in 2012, which is thought to be connected to the colorful butterfly that is Ningnig's symbol in aespa's story, so you will see it all the time in aespa's MVs starting in 2020 as she navigates through the digital world. You also will see a butterfly appear in several of SM's other groups' MVs, which is often used as a metaphor to represent a woman -- possibly representing a connection to the heart of the Tree of Life from EXO's storyline -- in each of the MVs, as a way to connect all of SM's storylines together. For example, there is also a white butterfly in NCT-127's "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, which is meant to represent the "vampire" woman that they are singing about, and it's even thought it could be connected to the white butterfly in SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. It also could be the white butterfly that helps aespa navigate through Kwangya in aespa's "aespa ep. 2 'Next Level' - SM Culture Universe" video in 2022, which would explain why we see a similar butterfly in all of SM's storylines. The butterfly appears to help everyone as they travel through Kwangya. (Everything SM does has to do with Kwangya -- even SM's new building where everything is created and produced is called Kwangya. Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists' concepts, and most of their MV storylines revolve around.) Therefore, the butterfly inkblot could be used as a way to try and break the control the Red Force has over them and to remind them of the fact that they need to find their way out of the maze and to not forget what their mission is, etc. Halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be. The silhouettes you see behind the lighted white wall or box also could be connected to the silhouettes you will see when you watch EXO's live remixed version of their song "Wolf" in concert. The silhouettes could represent the fact that EXO are battling with X-EXO for control. (And, now, it also could be connected to the silhouettes we see behind the white wall in SHINee's new "Hard" MV.) The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling, things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve. At one point you see them take those "chess" pieces and put them together to form a larger cube shape, which is thought could possibly be a model of the maze in which they are trapped in. And I think this also may be connected to the cube/labyrinth maze we see floating in the air in WayV's "Love Talk" MV in 2019 and the similar cube we see blocking aespa's way as they travel through Kwangya in aespa's ep. 2 video. And I think it might even be connected to the labyrinth cube we see SHINee's Key standing on top of in his solo "Gasoline" MV in 2022. (Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV, are all members of the Kpop supergroup SuperM, which I think is why SM is creating connections between all of their groups' storylines, because it's all part of the same story. Plus, everything aespa does is connected to the SM Culture Universe and is linked to EXO's/SuperM's storyline.) In SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see the members using a map to navigate through what is thought could be the maze that the EXO members are trapped in, as SuperM is coming to rescue EXO from the Red Force's control. And it could even have something to do with the fact that we see in SHINee's new teaser video for their Hard album, that they are also trying to solve a maze, which -- because SHINee's Taemin is a member of SuperM -- could possibly be SHINee trying to help EXO as well. We also see EXO's Sehun (EXO's other main rapper) on the motorcycle in "Tempo", which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV. In the very last scene in "Tempo", that is Baekhyun with that glass cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline, and it probably has something to do with the fact that Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in most of EXO's story. (We also see Chanyeol with a glass cube, similar to the one Baekhyun has, in their "Love Shot" MV.)

The way your brain stuttered with Obsession was hilarious. Wolf is really a „seasoned taste“ kinda song. So many instances that make you take a double take 😂 What did me in was them crawling the floor in a pack formation bcs who in SM thought „yeah. That’s pretty cool“. There are a lot of passages where I thought whoever thought that up should go visit church and wash their sins away. Still EXO OGs with one of the most solid Discographies out there. Imma just gloss over the Kai rudeness bcs at this point it’s redundant.

For Obsession, there was a teaser image that had this text: *Questionable beings have been spotted around the globe, causing abnormal activities. It was witnessed by many that these beings, radiated red energy, move and create phenomena beyond human level. From research, it has been confirmed that there are a total of six of these exotic beings. They are assumed to be similar in form to , a being that has been tracked for long now* There's also some text that says: *WARNING A messy world order Anomalies due to twisted orbits* The dark clones of EXO are called X-EXO; it's assumed that The Red Force made them. X-EXO members have the same names as EXO but they're names are a stylized version. They also have their own Twitter account; while EXO generally speaks politely/formally, X-EXO speaks informally and even takes jabs at EXO^.^ Xiumin was sooooo *upset* they did this comeback while he was enlisted; he covered the song on his online comeback concert when he came back~^.^

Some of my favorite little fun facts about Tempo/Don't Mess Up My Tempo: - Besides the title track, for the DMUMT album, there is a song that represents/embodies each member's power (there's even one called Smile On My Face for Lay^.^)~~~ - While he only briefly appears in the Korean MV for a few shots, Lay does appear more and sings a few lines in the Chinese version of Tempo's MV!~ (And, despite how it may appear, he was physically on set with the members for the shoot^.^) He also got to film his B-side's teaser video~ - While a lot of people in general think ink blot tests look like butterflies, cause they're symmetrical, it is interesting that they use one here, cause butterflies are often used in EXO stuff to represent EXO-Ls, and then it strobed into Chanyeol's face, who has a L-1485 tattoo (EXO-Ls' birthday)~~~ - The writers/producers for Tempo got *tons* of calls from other companies looking for a song like Tempo, but the writers/producers turned them down, citing that they could only make one Tempo and believed only EXO capable of doing it justice^.^ [And they're right cause even for covers they generally opt to just cover the song or the dance OR they only do a section of the song~^.^] - Before the MV came out, a teaser image came out with the following text: *Speed loving bikers enter the fragment of frozen time as they log into the red cube. Solving the given puzzle is the only route for all to escape. However, the bikers are unable to resist the temptation and reenters the cube* 10:16 A little hint/help: That's Beakhyun's hand^.^ And you've seen a glass cube, holding red liquid, in another EXO MV, Love Shot, which was the title track for the repackage of this album~~~ But I also think, based on an earlier shot in this MV, the crystal cubes are the key to entering and exiting this frozen fragment, and this shot is Baekhyun about to reenter like the teaser poster said.

'Monster' was my first EXO song and is my fav with 'Obsession' being a close 2nd. I'm not like super super into them but I know all of the current members, don't know those who left, but Baekhyun's vocals are among my fav in the whole industry. I don't care if he hasn't been able to do much with them, Lay is my bias with Baekhyun being a close 2nd. I adore Kai and know the most about him since he's Taemin's bestie. There are a lot of songs, mostly WayV and Ten's solo stuff, where I'm sitting there yelling WHO AT SM APPROVED THIS?! 😭🤣

31:00 Pretty sure the main lyricist for this song was Kenzie. She's done *tons* of songs in kpop (SM in particular uses her a lot!), including other songs for EXO & EXO members like: - Beakhyun's All I Got, Cry For Love & more - songs for Chen and CBX - EXO's Forever, Obsession, Wolf, Transformer, Overdose, and more~ - songs for SuperM, including a song for SuperM called Monster~~~ You might wanna just scroll through a list^.^ In a dance practice that was leaked before Monster even came out, you can hear the original demo version of the song^.^ Note: this is different from the nice, official dance practice that kinda started the whole *high quality* dance practice trend~

The story is that EXO didn't like Wolf for their first comeback after their debut after a nearly year-long hiatus. Actually, members tried to purposefully tank the initial demo recording so that the company would change it's mind~ The song did nab EXO their first music show win, tho~~~ And, after a particular remix for one of their EXO'rDIUM (which I'm sure you'll get tons of recs to react to), most of the anti-Wolf EXO-Ls begrudgingly started to give the song some respect^.^ There's also a "drama version" for Wolf and Growl that's two episodes long that you can react to now^.^ The opening pose is called Tree of Life, which ties into something for EXO's lore, and even it splitting halfway through has significance~~~^.^
