@@davidhohn9106 If you are talking about Wild Cherry I’m sorry but they were not from Australia. All the band members were from Ohio and Virginia or West Virginia. They were really popular in the Pittsburgh area but Funky Music was really their only hit out of their three albums.

I've always been thoroughly impressed at how the guy on the left could twirl his Trumpet that fast and not lose it. I've also had white and black friends alike that thought the singer was black until they watched the video.

This is some straight-up "Stank-Face" FUNK!!! When this song came out back in the day and wherever it was played, the dance floors got packed at the clubs, discos, wedding receptions, high school dances, block parties, house parties, cookouts, picnics, etc...and I'm talking about all races, all skin colors, nationalities & ethnicities would just "JAM" to this "BANGER!!!" You heard that thump? That was my Mic Drop!!!

He is a natural and has a set of pipes, he wrote the song in around 40 minutes he also produced and sang it. He is a outstanding person who started a foundation and still sounds like he did 50 years ago when he preformed. He definitely is a blessed and humble performer. He still sings this song and doesn't miss a beat and still has a wonderful voice.

"Midnight Special" TV videos have live-music being performed. It wasn't lip-sync'd (well, until the dancing pop-tarts arrived) and I loved seeing real performances. Can you imagine any dance-floor remaining still after seeing this band play with such energy? Naw... no way... git up and move.

I used to live in a town that had a karaoke bar that served a very good, very cheap prime rib dinner on Thursday nights. The lead singer I found out lived in town also (Florida) and would come in for dinner. They would NOT serve him until he got up and sang this for the crowd. Great guy, lots of fun and very personable. Sat at the bar many nights for dinner and had some fantastic conversations with him.

The song tells the story...the white boy was playing in a rock n roll band but was getting tired of it so he...discoed down to check out the show...he got on the stage and played at the disco...after he left he just couldn't shake the disco experience so he went back and was busting out in everly white and they yelled ...Play that Funky Music White Boy!

I find it funny this band didn't have more hits back then. The song gave them a formula for success. Could have been any number of reasons why they didn't follow up with this style. But for whatever reason they never did. What's even funnier is that myself and many of the people I knew always thought this song was done by either "Sly and the Family Stone" or a band like that back then. I guess being they were a one hit wonder, we never followed up on this group back then and just simply assumed it was "Sly"
