Excellent analysis of the need to be true to the genre. If you rap, you got to show it. No faking it. Even though the girls do not write their verses, the writers they have are without a doubt some of the most talented out there. And cudis to each of the members, and especially the rap line to be able to have their own identity and be so identifiable, unmistakable with their verses, cadence, rhythm and flow. XG is my favorite group period.

Now THIS is how you do a reaction! No constant stopping, no talking all the way through and throwing headphones on the desk at every verse 😄 I've written and produced for a lot of artists and bands both here in London and in the States for many years - more recently got a lot of very well known Kpop and Jpop artists. It's a lot of hard work and the work ethic of most of these groups is absolutely insane. So it's really nice when reactors actually listen to and appreciate the work. Of all the groups I've produced XG fall within a very specific and small group in that they perform songs entirely in English. Usually we mix languages and a lot of our groups are either multilingual when they arrive or have language lessons while trainees. XG have no weak links and I can think of only three other Kpop or Jpop groups in the last 10 years of my career where that's been true. 🤓🇬🇧

XG is very inspired by Western artists especially the OG. Cocona (the self-shaved bald rapper) said it herself, during an interview, that the female rapper that made her interested in becoming a rapper is Lauryn Hill and TLC. She started listening to rap especially from Lauryn Hill and TLC ever since she was 3 years old. She started learning how to rap at that age and her parents have been supporting her since then. XG always pay a lot of homage to the OG whenever they release new songs. Check out all of XG Tape 4.

In this one all 7 rapped.. and they can all sing & dance. But they are more like Rap Performers.. not Lyricists.. they´re a Pop group, and thats how they aproach Rap too. For the most part they don´t write their Lyrics... they have writers. you can look ´em up in the credits of the MV. And to me thats absolutely fine, because they are not trying to hide it. Unfortunetly a lot of Alphaz ( fandom name) dont get it and spread " false information". People keep saying they write their own lyrics and all of them are fluent at english... but thats not true. Maya is the only one who can speak fluent to a certain degree ( Thats why shes usually the only one speaking english in interviews) no hate at all ....I´m a huge fan and I love XG for what they are & do🥰 .. but fans need to keep it a 💯 😁
