I am an American and Helen Shapiro is my favorite singer as well. She was voted the #1 female vocalist in 1961 in the U.K. She is a Messianic Jew and tours the UK now singing Gospel songs. If you can, listen to her first #1 song , "You Don't Know" which is simply beautiful. The first time I heard it I thought the singer was was 30 or 35. I later learned she was only 15 when she recorded it. She is a faithful servant of God now and is in her seventies.
