It is so heartening to note this couple aware that each state in India prides itself in its individual language. They talking about the need to learn each language is even more commendable. Many foreigners go to South Indian states and talk Hindi, not realising that there is this sensitivity among Indian states about not having Hindi imposed on them directly or indirectly. The attempt to say “ evalavu” “ nandri” etc is very nice to hear!❤

You people don't know anything about North, you just see and hear on social media, then come on social media and spew venom. We also know that entire South Indian is not developed, only cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad are developed, even today small towns and villages are in very bad condition. Fun fact: Good Bye in Tamil is (Naan) poivittu varugiren. Which literally means (I'll) go/ leave and come back soon. We don't say Goodbye as it sounds end of a relationship. ( Friend or family or anyone). So we use the positive word to make it up. Like this lots of culture things are available on Tamil Nadu

Filtered coffee at Thambis are way cheaper than Star bucks coffee though. Don't know, why it doesn't pinch some people when paying to Star bucks, Costa Coffee or Cafe Nero

Chennai, especially you will get tea or coffee with sugar and cooked in Milk, unless and otherwise specifically requested to make it black then it's possible. It's also a very safe place and you can speak in English and get what you require. You are in the heart of Chennai, residing in TNagar while adventuring the city it makes your travel experience woth it. Enjoy my favorite place where I grew up.😊

Loving the Tamil practice! Your effort to learn the local language while exploring Chennai is inspiring. Have you had a chance to try any of the city's street food yet?

We had the same experience with tuktuks in Chennai too. We found that if we wanted to go cross-city, we had to use 2-3 tuktuks as some drivers either didn’t know the place we wanted to go to or they had a patch they worked within and didn’t want to go outside it.

North Indians must be shown these videos. I have now seen many foreign youtubers, who visit southern India, and show respect to the locals by learning at least a few local words, and using them. This is the way you show respect, instead of migrating to the south (not just visiting as tourists), refusing to learn the local languages, and demanding that only Hindi is used!
